A few days back Kuda Bank announced their new SoftPOS feature for business owners.

Basically, it turns your NFC-enabled phone into a POS machine that can read cards and process transactions like a normal POS.

How it works is straight forward really, first you need to request access on the Kuda Business app, they will grant you that and assign you a POS terminal ID.

Mine didn't work, Because I wasn't having a NFC enabled phone
I will explain what NFC is and phones that supports it in the comments section

So I went further online to check how it works (the process) and here is what I got 👇👇

To perform a POS transaction, you go to the sell tab, select the option to receive payment via card, put in the amount, select if it's current or savings account, select card type (Mastercard or Visa only), then it will ask you to place the card at the back of your phone.

The easiest way that worked best is dropping the card on a flat surface like a table, and placing your phone on top of it.

Once your phone touches the card, it takes less than a second for the app to read the details and request for a pin, (Those in the abroad who have used contactless terminal must be familiar with this) customer will put in their pin like a normal user and then "transaction approved".

It also generates a receipt, which you can share to the customer via WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram or any other app in your phone.

It's a really really thoughtful feature, only drawback I see is adoption, you need a whole lot of customer education to convince the users that you're not stealing their card details with your phone 😂

PS: This only works for NFC enabled debit cards, which is literally most or all of the debit cards currently in circulation.
I've attached a picture of my card, you'll notice the NFC symbol just beside the edge of my card
