The Nigeria Police Force has reiterated and re-echoed the earlier warning issued by the PSC that the public should be cautious of unauthorized Facebook and WhatsApp accounts claiming to represent the Police Service Commission, operated by an individual named Mr. Stephen Prosper. This information was made known by Force PRO, ACP OLUMUYIWA ADEJOBI, mnipr, mipra, on Wednesday 27th September, 2023.

ACP Olumuyiwa added that while the the police are actively taking steps to apprehend the suspect, the warning is imperative to prevent Nigerians from falling victim of Job racketeering and frauds related to police recruitment and other job opportunities in the NPF. He further notified the general public to verify the authenticity of any communication from official sources and report suspicious activity to the Police via its social media platforms or via email at [email protected], and PSC's official handles on social media.

IGP FELICUTATES WITH MUSLIM FAITHFUL ON EID MAULUD

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun NPM, Ph.D, extends warm greetings and felicitations to the Muslim community in Nigeria, as Muslims around the world celebrate Eid Maulud. This was made known through a press release by the Force Public Relations Office ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra.

The IGP stated that this auspicious occasion reminds us of the virtues of love, compassion, and unity that the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) exemplified throughout his life, and that It is a time for reflection, gratitude, and rededication to the principles of peace and harmony.

The IGP charged all Muslim faithfuls to use this moment to preach and promote peace, unity, and tolerance within our diverse society, and as well, be beacons of hope and understanding, fostering goodwill among all Nigerians.

SECURITY BOOST: IGP RECEIVES STATE-OF-THE-ART MOBILE BARRACKS DONATED BY UNDP, GS-FOUNDATION, PORTO

In alignment with the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Egbetokun to enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force, particularly with regards to the establishment of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), the Global Security-Sector-Reform Foundation (GS-Foundation) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Police Reform and Transformation Office (PORTO), officially handed over state-of-the-art equipment designed for a 2,000-bed capacity mobile barracks to the Nigeria Police Force. This significant initiative, aimed at enhancing the welfare and deployment capabilities of the Nigeria Police Force, was unveiled during a handover ceremony at the Police College Ikeja on Friday 15th September 2023, and made known by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, through a Press Release.

ACP Olumuyiwa noted that the facility which includes modular components such as military-grade tents, fully equipped field kitchens, medical clinics, and modern toilet and washroom facilities is part of the Supporting Police Reform Processes in Nigeria Project funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Government of Germany and implemented by UNDP and GS-Foundation in collaboration with PORTO and the NPF. He added that the mobile nature of these barracks enables rapid field deployments to various locations across the Federation.

According to the Press Release, the Chief Executive Officer of PORTO, Tunji Lardner, emphasized the alignment of this initiative with their comprehensive reform strategy and commended the Inspector General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his exceptional leadership in this strategic partnership. He also expressed gratitude to the German Federal Foreign Office (FFO), GS-Foundation, and UNDP for their unwavering support in this critical national endeavor.

ACP Olumuyiwa further noted that the IGP, Ag. IGP Kayode Egbetokun, acknowledged the significant contribution of the German Government to the Nigeria Police Force through his remarks , and expressed gratitude to the collaborative efforts of UNDP, GS-Foundation, PORTO, and the Federal Foreign Office of the Government of Germany. The IGP further emphasized that this initiative underscores the dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to modernizing law enforcement and will undoubtedly enhance the safety and security of communities across the nation.

SECURITY OPERATIVES HARASSING MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC UNDER THE UMBRELLA OF ‘OPERATION SEARCH FLUSH’ IN IMO STATE ARRESTED

Security operatives hiding under the umbrella of Operation Search Flush in Imo State, harassing and extorting unsuspecting members of the public (in particular the youths) to the tune of thousands of Naira via POS, seizing and checking their phones and thereby bringing untold hardship to them, have been arrested.

The recalcitrant officers include 3 NDLEA operatives, 2 Civil Defense personnel, and an Inspector of Police They are:

POLICE NAB CAR WASH ATTENDANT FOR STEALING CUSTOMER’S CAR JUST THREE DAYS AFTER EMPLOYMENT

Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a car wash attendant after he absconded with a 2012 Toyota Camry handed over to him for cleaning in Isheri, Lagos. The Lagos State Police Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, anipr, mipra, in a Press Release on Tuesday 12th September 2023 stated that The suspect, Issa Muhammed, aged 22, was arrested on Sunday, September 9, 2023, in the Agege area of Lagos State where he parked the car to link up with a buyer.

SP Hundeyin divulge that Preliminary investigations reveal that the car was handed over to the suspect three hours earlier by the owner in preparation for a family outing later in the afternoon. He further added that Mohammed, who was employed at the car wash three days before the incident, had removed the number plate of the car and discarded all identities linking the car to its owner immediately after he arrived at Agege.

The Press Release revealed that the CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi-led RRS will be charging the matter to court immediately investigation is concluded.

The Adamawa State Police Command's Operatives have trailed and dislodged criminal hideouts connecting part of Gujubu, Bole, Yolde Pate, and part of Yadim, in Yola South and Fufore local Government Areas.

The operation which was carried out on the 11th of September, 2023, was made known by the Command’s spokesperson SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Manipur, through a press release. SP Nguroje stated that the operation was necessitated by the incident of the kidnapping of one, Mrs. Becky Ladawus, a resident of Nyibango, Yola South Local Government Area. He added that the operation which was carried out by the Command's operatives led by Commander Crack Squad in a joint operation with Hunters, yielded positive results as the victim was rescued unharmed. “Interestingly, Two of the kidnappers who laid ambushed to prevent the security agents from having access to the hideouts were neutralized as a result of which Two Pump Action Guns, Charms amongst others were recovered”, SP Nguroje said.

The Commissioner of Police Adamawa State Command, CP Afolabi Babatola, while expressing happiness, hailed the Commander Crack Squad, his men, and hunters for the gallantry performance displayed. CP Afolabi directed them to further give a hot chase to those on the run and ensure that they are denied the opportunity of re-grouping anywhere in the State.

The CP called on the populace to always inform and work in synergy with the police regarding the whereabouts of criminals and rid them from their hideouts, especially those on the run with bullet
wounds if seen. The Police Boss equally assured the Government and good people of Adamawa state, of the Command's continuous effort in dislodging all criminal hideouts and blackspots in Adamawa state.

The Commissioner of Police Kaduna Command CP Musa Yusuf Garba has yet again called on parents and guardians to always take interest in the activities of their children in order to prevent them from indulging in illegalities. This was made Known by the Command’s deputy spokesperson, ASP Mansir Hassan in a Press Statement released on Monday 11th September, 2023.

The CP's advice came on the heels of the arrest of thirteen (13) young persons suspected to be members of cult and armed robbery groups by the Command through its Operatives attached to the Divisional Headquarters Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna.
The CP stated that on the 10th September 2023 at about 3:10 am, the unlawful group armed with machetes and other handheld weapons stormed the Graceland community, broke into homes, inflicted injuries, and robbed inhabitants of their various belongings which included inter alia GSM mobile phones, money, pieces of jewelry, ATM cards, etc., After which they fled into a nearby forest. The Police Operatives trailed them to their hideout in the bushes and tactically apprehended thirteen (13) out of the yet-be-ascertained number of persons. The arrested suspects confessed to being members of the Aiye confraternity who came from different higher education institutions and parts of the country and chose the Graceland area as their rendezvous for initiations.

The CP further disclosed that the arrested hoodlums are cooperating with the Police investigation, especially towards arresting the fleeing others, and commended the Police Operatives, while equally calling on members of the public to always report any suspicious individual or group activities to the nearest Police station or any security outfit closest to them.

INSECURITY: IGP “READS THE RIOT ACT” ON ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF FI****MS

The Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, NPM, Ph.D, has issued a stern warning to all individuals involved in the wrongful possession of arms and light weapons. This was disclosed in a Press Release by the Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, mnipr, mipra, on Monday 11th September 2023. The IGP reiterated that the illegal proliferation of fi****ms and light weapons poses a significant threat to the peace and stability of our nation and that the Nigeria Police Force is resolutely determined to combat the illegal fabrication, sale, possession, and use of arms. He emphasized that possessing fi****ms without the appropriate licenses and permits is not only a violation of the law but also a grave danger to society, and that the Nigeria Police Force will spare no effort in pursuing and prosecuting those engaged in these illegal activities to the full extent of the law.

In furtherance of this, the IGP announced the establishment of an ad hoc committee tasked with the comprehensive review of fi****ms licensing and regulations by the Nigeria Police Force in line with the Fi****ms Act and other extant laws, in the interest of public safety and general security. The Committee's mandate will encompass a thorough assessment of current fi****ms licensing procedures and regulations, with the aim of enhancing their effectiveness, transparency, and accountability.

The Inspector General of Police charged all State Commissioners of Police and supervising Assistant Inspectors-General of Police in charge of Zonal Commands, and tactical squads to commence a total clampdown on the illegal fabrication, sale, possession, and use of prohibited fi****ms in the country. He equally urged all Nigerians to report suspicious activities related to fi****ms to their local police divisions or via the various NPF social media platforms for prompt response.

EMBER MONTHS SECURITY: BAYELSA CP REJIGS SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Police Command, CP Tolani Alausa PSC, has rejigged its security architecture to confront the security challenges associated with the Ember months. This was made known through a Press Release made available recently by the Police Public Rations Officer (PPRO) Bayelsa State Command, SP Asinim Butswat.

As a consequence of this development, CP Tolani Alausa PSC charged Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Commanders, and other operatives to constantly Raid flash spots, and criminal hideouts, while also intensifying surveillance and patrols in the nooks and crannies of the State, and alert at all times.
