🚨 OUR GRIEVANCE AS MUSLIMS: STOP THE MISUSE AND MOCKERY OF THE NAMES OF ALLAH.
We express our deep displeasure, pain, and total condemnation over the viral video/song in which the sacred Name of Allah, Ar-Rahman, Ar-Roheem and Al-Mutakabbir, is being used in a manner that is completely unbecoming of the Majesty and Holiness of Allah.
This is not merely a matter of entertainment, music, culture, or personal expression. The Names of Allah are sacred. They belong to Allah, and Muslims are commanded to honour and exalt them.
Allah سبحانه وتعالى says:
«وَلِلَّهِ الْأَسْمَاءُ الْحُسْنَىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَا وَذَرُوا الَّذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِي أَسْمَائِهِ ۚ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ
“And to Allah belong the Most Beautiful Names, so call upon Him by them. And leave those who deviate concerning His Names. They will be recompensed for what they used to do.”
— Qur’an 7:180»
Allah also says:
«هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ ۖ هُوَ الرَّحْمَٰنُ الرَّحِيمُ هُوَ اللَّهُ الَّذِي لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْمَلِكُ الْقُدُّوسُ السَّلَامُ الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمُهَيْمِنُ الْعَزِيزُ الْجَبَّارُ الْمُتَكَبِّرُ ۚ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ
“He is Allah, there is no deity except Him... He is Allah... the Sovereign, the Most Holy, the Source of Peace, the Granter of Security, the Guardian, the Almighty, the Compeller, the Supremely Great (Al-Mutakabbir). Glory be to Allah above what they associate with Him.”
— Qur’an 59:22–23»
The Name Al-Mutakabbir is not an ordinary word to be thrown around carelessly. It describes the One who possesses absolute greatness, majesty, and supremacy — Allah سبحانه وتعالى alone.
⚠️ THE QUR’AN WARNS AGAINST MOCKERY OF ALLAH AND HIS REVELATION
Allah سبحانه وتعالى says concerning those who mocked:
«قُلْ أَبِاللَّهِ وَآيَاتِهِ وَرَسُولِهِ كُنتُمْ تَسْتَهْزِئُونَ لَا تَعْتَذِرُوا قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَانِكُمْ
“Say: Was it Allah, His verses, and His Messenger that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief.”
— Qur’an 9:65–66»
This is an extremely serious warning.
Therefore, we must not trivialise, entertain, normalise, or celebrate anything that contains mockery or disrespect toward Allah, His Names, His verses, or the symbols of Islam.
We are not saying this merely because we dislike a particular song or video. We are raising this grievance because the honour of Allah is greater than our personal feelings, tribal affiliations, friendships, or entertainment.
📢 A CALL TO THE EBÍRA AUTHORITIES
We therefore respectfully but firmly call upon:
His Royal Highness, Ohinoyi Ahmed Tijani Anaje,
the Ohirebas,
the Onobas,
and other relevant traditional authorities and community leaders,
to immediately look into this matter and call those responsible to order.
We expect our traditional institutions to act diligently and responsibly in addressing conduct that is deeply offensive to the religious convictions of the Muslim community.
Let it be clearly understood:
Islam does not permit the Names of Allah to be reduced to objects of ridicule, entertainment, mockery, or disrespect.
We appeal for immediate corrective action, accountability, and the removal of the offending material, as well as an appropriate clarification/apology from those responsible.
We also urge our fellow Muslims to respond lawfully, peacefully, and through the proper authorities. We will pursue every legitimate and lawful avenue available to ensure that this matter is properly addressed, rather than responding with violence, abuse, or disorder.
At the same time, our grievance is not born out of hatred for our people.
We love Ebira people. We love our land. We want guidance and salvation for our people.
O Allah, guide the people of Ebira to the pure Tawḥīd.
O Allah, remove from our land every form of Shirk, superstition, religious syncretism, and every practice that contradicts the Qur’an and authentic Sunnah.
O Allah, distinguish truth from falsehood for our people and grant them the courage to follow the truth when it becomes clear.
O Allah, protect our communities from associating partners with You while claiming Islam.
O Allah, make Ebira Land a land of Tawḥīd, Sunnah, righteousness, knowledge, justice, and obedience to You.
O Allah, guide our people, rectify our affairs, purify our land from Shirk, innovations and superstition, and bless us with Tawḥīd and Sunnah and steadfastness upon them. Āmīn.
