South African Man Fakes Own Death After Killing 19-year-old Girlfriend

The South African Police have arrested a 27-year-old man for killing his 19-year-old girlfriend, Ridodzula Mudzanani, before proceeding to fake his death with the body of a yet-to-be-identified man.

According to The Citizen, a South African News Website, the incident happened at Thohoyandou in Limpopo, South Africa.

The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, September 19, at his hideout in the Waterberg District at Mokopane, Mahwelereng Zone 17, Polokwane.

He was nabbed, by operatives of the Thohoyandou Task Team.

The police had arrived Ha-Magidi village in Polokwane on September 3rd, after receiving information about a young lady being attacked.

Upon arrival, they met emergency medical services attending to the lady, who eventually passed from the injuries sustained after the attack.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba reacting to the story said, "Investigations revealed that the deceased’s ID was in his pocket and the body was not that of the suspect.

"A trace led police to the Mahwelereng area, where the suspect was arrested,” Ledwaba says.

Ledwaba also added that the suspect will soon be charged to court.

Gabon citizens on Wednesday applauded members of the security forces in the Plein Ciel district Libreville, after a group of Gabonese military officers appeared on television announcing they were "putting an end to the current regime".

The military also scrapped the official election results that had handed another term to ousted President Ali Bongo.

Oborevwori condemns killing of two-year-old in Delta by NDLEA Officials

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori has sent his heart-felt condolences to the family of Ivan Omorhiakogbe, a two-year-old boy killed by a "stray bullet" during an operation by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Delta Command, at Okpanam area of the State capital.

In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor said the tragic incident was regrettable and avoidable if the officers had operated based on their rules of engagement.

He called on the NDLEA authorities and the Delta Police Command to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the boy and injury to his brother, with a view to bringing the culprits to book and avoiding a future occurence.

"On behalf of the Government and people of Delta, I commiserate with the family of Fidelis Omorhiakogbe on the tragic death of their two-year-old son, Ivan, and injury to his younger sibling, Eromonsele.

"This incident is tragic, painful, and grievous because of the loss of a child and injury to his younger sibling.

"I condemn this unfortunate incident because no matter the provocation, armed security men must operate within the ambits of standard procedure as enshrined in their rules of engagement.

"Any action taken outside these international best practices could be catastrophic as in this case.

"I therefore call on the NDLEA and Police authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident and bring all the culprits to book.

After Failing JAMB, Nigerian Boy Writes Funny Books, Makes ₦14.5m

A Nigerian boy who could not pass his Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) in 2021 has started making a lot of money with his talent. A viral story told on Twitter by Dev Tobs revealed that the boy is a talented writer who writes comic books.

After he attempted UTME and was unsuccessful, he was said to have refused to give up and started using his talent entirely.

"He wrote JAMB twice with no major headway, but his folks noticed he had a flair for writing, hence his brother who’s my close pal, also a software Engineer, advised he starts hoisting the comic books he writes on this Amazon thingy, Etsy and one other one."

He has made so much money from it. According to the story, he made as much as N14.5 million. He has now relocated abroad. "Yes, you didn’t misread, he made $19k (N14.5 million). Two years down the line today, I got news he’s moved up to Canada for his bachelor's and I couldn’t stop but feel happier."

She cannot manipulate her score. They just want to transfer that scholarship to another person- father of pupil accused of forging her JAMB result speaks

Mr Romanus Ejikeme who is the father of Mmesoma, the Anambra pupil whose JAMB result is currently being disputed by the board has alleged that some people are trying to stop the N3 million scholarship his daughter secured from Innoson motors chairman, Innocent Chukwuma.

In an interview with Leadership newspaper, Ejikeme stated that his daughter had showcased sterling academic brilliance from her nursery school days and always claimed first position in her class, starting from nursery to secondary school. He said he believes his daughter cannot manipulate her result.

“We are from Oduma in Aninri local government in Enugu state, but we live in Uruagu, Nnewi. Mmesoma is my first child. She had always taken first position from the time she was in the nursery school at Ogbunike Central School.

When she was at Oba Girls’ Secondary School, Mmesoma was representing the school in competitions. So when she changed to Anglican Girls’ Secondary School, her teachers in Oba Girls came and pleaded with me, begging me to retain her in their school; that she is promoting the name of their school.

Mmesoma cannot manipulate her UTME score. I don’t believe what they are saying. They just want to transfer that scholarship to another person. That is why they are saying that Mmesoma did not make that score.

It is even her (Mmesoma) friends that saw her score on the internet and started calling her before she went and printed it out. We have the print-out with us now” Mmesoma’s father said

Ejikeme lamented that his daughter had been feeling very sad and even crying sometimes since after her visit to the commissioner of education from where she was taken to the DSS office.

According to Mr. Mayor Ofoegbu, who is a well known movie director in Nollywood, reported the incident.

According to Ofoegbu, Don Brymo who prominently plays the role of an Igwe (King) in movies, died in his sleep last night.

How Burna Boy chased after Davido's car in Port Harcourt --B-Red

Singer Adebayo Adeleke, popularly known as B-Red, has narrated his first meeting with Burna Boy in Port Harcourt.

B-Red stated that Burna Boy was running after his and Davido’s car.

The son of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, revealed this during an interview with Echoo Room, shared on Friday.

Speaking in the video, he said, “Burna Boy, the first time I met Burna Boy, he was in Port Harcourt, running after me and Davido’s car, saying 'oh my God, I love you Davido'.”

President Tinubu signs Electricity Act 2023 into law; empowers states and private companies to generate power

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assented to the Electricity Act 2023, which was initially passed by lawmakers in July 2022.

The Electricity Act will replace the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (EPSRA), 2005.

The new Electricity Act will enable the de-monopolization of Nigeria’s electricity generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity at the National level and empower states, companies, and individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. This means anyone may construct, own, or operate an undertaking for generating electricity not exceeding one megawatt in aggregate at a site, or an undertaking for distribution of electricity with a capacity not exceeding 100 kilowatts in aggregate at a site, or such other capacity as the Commission may determine from time to time, without a licence.

The act empowers states, companies, and individuals to generate, transmit and distribute electricity. It also gives states power to regulate their electricity markets by issuing licences to private investors who can operate mini-grids and power plants within the state.

For now, only three states - Lagos, Edo and Kaduna—have electricity market laws and can start regulating their markets. But for other states without such laws, NERC will regulate their electricity generation and transmission.
