Here are some key facts about Prince Nico Mbarga:
1. Early Life and Career: Mbarga was born in Abakaliki, Nigeria, to a Cameroonian Father and Nigerian Mother. He began his music career in the 1970s, playing in various bands before forming his own group, Rocafil Jazz.
2. Music Style: Mbarga's music blended traditional Igbo music, highlife, and Congolese rumba, creating a unique sound.
3. Hit Songs: His most famous song, "Sweet Mother," released in 1976, became a massive hit across Africa and beyond.
4. Impact: Mbarga's music addressed social issues and promoted African culture.
5. Awards and Recognition: He won several awards, including the 1977 African Music Man of the Year.
