FOUNDING TRADITIONAL GAMES: President of the Namibia Sports Commission Freddy Mwiya commended the MTC Dome in Swakopmund for taking on the responsibility of hosting the first ever all African Games for traditional sports tournament scheduled for 2026.
Mwiya was speaking on the sidelines of the signing agreement between the MTC Dome and the African Traditional Games Association, who are the organiser and co-hosts of the event.

CHURCH REGULATION:The Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN) executive committee chairperson, Reverend Heinz Mouton, says the Council has proposed for a comprehensive review with stakeholders to be conducted regarding the numbers of registered churches in Namibia to allow for a framework regulation of churches.

SUBSIDIES: Following the public outcry over the recent increased electricity tariffs, the Electricity Control Board’s Chief Executive Officer, Robert Kahimise, announced on Wednesday afternoon that consumers will now be paying the scheduled approved tariffs for the 2023/2024 financial year for N.dollars 1.9856 per kilowatt instead of N.dollars 2.1444 per kilowatt for the 2024/2025 financial year.
This follows the government’s allocation of N.dollars 365 million to subsidise electricity consumers for the 2024/2025 financial year, effective 01 July 2024 to 30 June 2025. #nampatv
