UPDATE: Another Namibian tests positive of COVID-19

A 47-year-old truck driver male who returned from Johannesburg on 8 May and was quarantined at Walvis Bay’s truck port, has tested positive. His last trip was to South Africa was on 3 May.

The man sneaked out of the quarantine facility into the community with another truck driver before testing positive. He was apprehended and placed under supervised quarantine at the Walvis Bay Hospital Isolation Unit.

President Hage Geingob is reappointing vice-President Nangolo Mbumba for a period of five years, until his second term comes to an end.

Geingob is also reappointing Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila and deputy Prime Minister Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah in those portfolios until 2025.

Geingob and his new Cabinet will be inaugurated on 21 March.
