Congratulatory Message
On behalf of the Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU), it is with great pride that we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Our General Secretary, Comrade Petrus Tukondjeni Nevonga on being awarded the Most Distinguished Order of Namibia, Second Class. This remarkable honor recognizes not only his outstanding achievements but also his unwavering commitment to the rights and welfare of workers across Namibia.
Comrade Nevonga's dedication to public service, particularly within the labor movement, has been instrumental in advancing the rights of both students and workers. His leadership within NAPWU, spanning several years, has profoundly shaped the Namibian labor landscape. His skillful negotiations and tireless efforts in resolving labor disputes have played a critical role in securing a fair and just working environment for all Namibian workers, contributing greatly to the economic progress of our country.
We also wish to extend our sincere gratitude to the State and His Excellency, President Nangolo Mbumba, for bestowing this prestigious honor upon Comrade Nevonga. This award is not only a recognition of his individual contributions but also a proud achievement for all Namibian workers and trade unionists. It serves as a powerful testament to the importance of collective advocacy and the enduring strength of our labor movement.
As Comrade Nevonga joins the esteemed ranks of Namibia’s most distinguished honorees, we celebrate this milestone with immense pride. His exemplary influence will continue to inspire us and future generations to remain steadfast in our pursuit of justice and equality for all workers.
Congratulations, Comrade Nevonga! This achievement is a victory for the entire Namibian labor force.
In solidarity,
On behalf of the Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU)
Any planned decision to undo the gains of Namibian workers by appealing against this award could be seen as going against state policies that aim to promote job security and improve labor conditions. This action might be perceived as undermining government efforts, especially during an election year, and could be viewed as sabotage of the government's goals to ensure fair treatment of workers. In any event, such decision will not go unchallenged.
