untry Club on the evening of the 28th of October 2016 under the theme "Thriving in the Namib" in recognition of the !Nara plant. Endemic to the Namib Desert, the !Nara plant is an indigenous plant which thrives in difficult terrain. As the Namibia Sports Awards celebrate triumph and endurance of sports within a challenging sector, our theme symbolizes these core principles just like the !Nara shrub’s resilience enables it to thrive, so too does the Namibian sports sector continue to grow under difficult hardships and prevailing circumstances such as lack of adequate sports facilities and underfunding of the domain our athletes continue to thrive as they challenge and conquer the world’s best with a spirited legacy of heroism in pursuit to be champions of the world. The Namibia Sports Awards 2016 Red Carpet will include a press pit and areas for the sports community, socialites and paparazzi as well as an interview area for the Nominees and VIP guests. As guests walk the Red Carpet, every aspect of the occasion will be geared towards ultimate glamour. The Namibia Sports Awards Red Carpet will offer sponsors fantastic branding opportunities, as the carpet itself can be “owned” by a sponsor. In addition, premier guests of the sponsors and associated guests will be given VIP treatment and experience as tailored packages will be offered. Our beautiful motherland Namibia, will be branded strategically by staging a world class event of this magnitude. Thus, the Namibia Sports Awards and its campaign has been planned in such a way which will give a new look to the Namibian sports sector, leave lasting positive impacts on the associated Namibian brands and economic growth at large. The Awards will generate an environment of festivity where sports lovers will enjoy an international experience and healthy entertainment from the heart of our capital city Windhoek. Sports is a form of expression that transcends through all barriers and brings a sense of unity among communities, therefore we are guaranteed that the Namibia Sports Awards 2016 will attract public of different categories.

The Namibia Annual Sports Awards Sponsorship Meeting held today at the Roof of Africa, hosted by the Namibia Sport Commission, marked a significant step forward in celebrating sporting excellence. With a total sponsorship of N$960, 000.00 (category sponsorships, logistics, and airtime for print and broadcast), the event is set to shine a spotlight on Namibia's top athletes. Additionally, 26 tonnes of water and juice were allocated to the 2024 Namibia Youth Games, Namibia Annual Sport Expo, and the Awards themselves.

Key sponsors include the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology, NamPower, Standard Bank Namibia, Namibia Broadcasting Corporation, New Era Publication Corporation, Interpack, Radio Energy/Energy 100, and NASRIA, demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting sports in Namibia.

The call for additional sponsorships remains open as some categories still seek partners.

The netball semi-final match between host Otjozondjupa's team and Omaheke was a nail-biting experience for the spectators, who cheered on as Otjozondjupa emerged victorious with a final score of 35-27. Grace Tuahepa, representing Otjozondjupa, was singled out as player of the match. Otjozondjupa’s win has secured their place in The Namibian Newspaper Cup's netball finals on Monday.
