Mitsubishi unveiled the all-new electric SUV Airtrek at Auto Guangzhou.
With its long wheelbase and broad overall width, the new model also offers spacious interior room for the whole family to ride in comfort.
The all-new Airtrek comes equipped with a large capacity 70 kWh battery, achieving a maximum driving range of approximately 520 kilometers. Installing the battery in the center of the floor has achieved an ideal front-rear weight distribution with a low center of gravity. The motor, inverter, and reduction drive have been integrated into a single lightweight, compact unit, combined with a driving system that delivers high output and torque inside a lightweight, high-rigidity body. As a result, the Airtrek delivers the powerful yet smooth ride characteristic of an EV, with nimble handling for a thoroughly exhilarating driving.

Gaussin presents the H2 Racing Truck designed by Pininfarina, the most powerful 100% hydrogen and electric racing truck built so far. It will compete at the 2022 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia in January. The data and information collected during the 2022 Dakar Rally will be used to further develop Gaussin’s range of road trucks scheduled for launch from 2022.
Gaussin’s hydrogen system has been developed for an ultra-light chassis designed around the hydrogen and electric powertrain, based on the modular skateboard launched last April. The racing truck is powered by two e-motors of 300 kW each, getting energy from fuel cells of 380 kW and batteries of 82 kWh. The volume of the hydrogen tank is 80 kg and it can be recharged in 20 minutes with a specific hydrogen cooling station.
The maximum speed of the racing truck is 140 km/h in compliance with regulations and has a range of 250 km in race conditions.

Chevrolet drives into the SEMA Show this week led by The Chevy Beast — a concept vision of the ultimate in high-performance desert running. The Chevy Beast concept is a four-passenger off-roader that’s based on a modified Silverado chassis, wears a customized pickup body and is powered by a Chevrolet Performance LT4 650-horsepower supercharged crate engine.
Designers and engineers started with the chassis of a Silverado short-bed model and modified it for high-speed desert running. The frame was shortened and a custom-designed, 4130 chromoly tubular safety structure was integrated while the modified chassis was wrapped with a custom, lightweight body. A concept, long-travel off-road suspension system was also created for the vehicle, including a five-link rear suspension. Along with a widened, 91-inch track, it contributes to more stable handling and optimal driver control during high-speed off-road driving. That high-speed capability is derived from a Chevrolet Performance LT4 crate engine — a 6.2L supercharged V-8 that’s rated at 650 hp. It’s backed by a 10L90 10-speed automatic transmission that sends torque to a two-speed transfer case and distributes it to 37-inch-tall off-road tires mounted on 20-inch beadlock wheels. The concept also includes the Chevrolet Performance Big Brake Upgrade System.

Mitsubishi revealed the all-new plug-in hybrid (PHEV) Outlander crossover SUV, confirming it will share the same bold and distinctive styling as the all-new, gasoline-powered Outlander that launched earlier this year. Sales are scheduled to begin in Japan in mid-December.
The all-new Outlander PHEV model employs twin-motor 4WD that consists of one motor at the front and another one at the rear of the vehicle. The system optimally distributes the driving force between the front and rear wheels according to road and driving conditions.
Combining this with the evolved version of Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) increases vehicle maneuverability in driving, cornering and braking. Conventional models employ a braking control system to control the brake forces in the left and right wheels only on the front, but the evolved S-AWC adds a braking control system for the rear wheels. This reduces the load on the front wheels and makes it possible to extract the maximum performance from all four tires in a more balanced manner.
In addition, seven drive modes can be selected depending on road conditions and driving style.
Like its gasoline counterpart, the all-new Outlander PHEV will come standard with third-row seating.

The Beginning of the End

With the Concept EQG, Mercedes-Benz presents the near-production study of an all-electric model variant of its utilitarian off-road icon. Visually, the concept car combines the unmistakably striking look of the G-Class with selected design elements typical of all-electric models from Mercedes as contrasting highlights. The Concept EQG offers a preview of what a Mercedes-Benz G-Class with battery-electric drive will be capable of.
The chassis design remains off-road capable, as is typical of the G-Class: with independent suspension on the front axle and a rigid axle at the rear, newly developed for the integration of the electric drive. With four electric motors close to the wheels and individually controllable, the vehicle will offer unique driving characteristics both on- and off-road. As with any real 4x4, the Concept EQG's off-road reduction can be activated via a shiftable 2-speed gearbox.

THE GENEVA INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW IS CANCELLED!
This is an injonction decision of the Federal Council of 28 February 2020 that no events with more than 1,000 people are allowed to take place until 15 March 2020. The organizers accept this decision.
The decision falls 3 days before the opening of the exhibition. The construction of the stands was very nearly complete. A week ago, during the press conferences announcing the 2020 edition, there was nothing to suggest that such a measure was necessary. The situation changed with the appearance of the first confirmed coronavirus diseases in Switzerland and the injonction of the Federal Council on 28.02.2020. The event is cancelled due to this decision.
In the meantime, the dismantling of the event will now have to be organised. The financial consequences for all those involved in the event are significant and will need to be assessed over the coming weeks. One thing is certain: tickets already purchased for the event will be refunded. The organisers will communicate about this as soon as possible, via their website.

Hinting at upcoming Bronco production model, Ford’s Bronco R race prototype debuts in the desert to celebrate 50th anniversary of Rod Hall’s historic Baja 1000 win, an overall victory in a 4x4 that’s never been duplicated in 50 years.
As a tribute, it was appropriately parked alongside the Bronco that Rod Hall and Larry Minor famously drove to an overall win 50 years ago at the 1969 Baja 1000 – a victory that no other 4x4 has replicated. Featuring a race livery inspired by Hall’s winning vehicle, Bronco R passes the torch to off-road racer Shelby Hall, Rod’s granddaughter, who will drive it for portions of this year’s prestigious race in honor of her late grandfather.
The race prototype is built on a modified Ford T6 architecture that will provide the base for the production model. Beefed up for Baja, Bronco R features an independent front suspension with 14 inches of travel and a production-based five-link rear chassis design with up to 18 inches of travel, plus custom Fox shocks, 17-inch beadlock-capable aluminum wheels and 37-inch BFGoodrich tires.
