I am a mother of two. I gave up my corporate job as a trainer when I gave birth to my second child in 2015. It has been 9 years since I left corporate life.

Do I miss my working life?
Of coz I do

Were there any regrets leaving my job?
A little coz I had to find ways to make earnings and at the same time be there for my kids. There were not many online jobs at that time, and I still had to be out to find for jobs.

I did many jobs, from doing events to marketing, selling cakes, selling some products online, and social media marketing, and I would do anything that I think I am capable of that comes my way.

And then Covid happened. And I didn't have any jobs to do. I was at home just practising yoga. I was not a yoga instructor then, but that's when I thought that I should try taking the course to be a yoga instructor. I read a lot about the benefits of yoga other than the physical part of it, and I wanted to explore most. In 2020, I enrolled myself for the Yoga Instructor course, and since then, my life changed.

I opened a company called Raynlight Virtual Yoga, came up with the name and designed the logo myself. Build a simple website on my own, created a simple marketing material, posted it on social media, setup my small Yoga studio in a spare room at home and started my online class. In my first class, I had 2 students. I was so excited about it, and since that, I have not stopped teaching. It has been more than 3 years now, and never once in my life I have not been excited or motivated to teach my students.

This gave me the privilege to be there with my kids while I am able to teach my students online.

Grateful to be in this path. 🙏

Have you ever made a wrong decision in your life that you wish you could turn back time? Guess what, you can't. But what you can do is to accept that it has happened and take it as a lesson, stay strong, and move on because time heals and it's not the end of the world. The more you hold on to your past, the harder it is for you to move forward. Let go and experience life.

Yoga is a way of life for me. It teaches me to be patient, resilient, focused, and of all it has taught be to handle difficult situations alot better than how it used to. I used to be a very moody person, and I used to get angry very easily. Since I have started understanding Yoga better, my perspective of life changed, and it made me realize that there are better ways to handle challenging situations.

Not everyone gets the opportunity to be touched by yoga, but if you do, consider yourself lucky.

Never thought I would be in this journey at the age of 40.

I imagined myself having joint pains, back issues, lethargic and tired, having hormonal imbalance, moody, no strength, bad postures and all the other issues that people in general will have at the age of 40.

These are the few things that I have changed throughout my journey towards 40:

1. A balanced diet
2. Little to no sugar at all
3. Yoga Daily (Surya Namaskar)
4. Light Weight Lifting
5. Walking in a place of nature
6. Let go of things or situations that I can't change
7. Be joyful (smile always)
8. Be grateful (especially for the little things in life)
9. Do my best in what I do best (teaching yoga)
10. Love unconditionally
11. Be 100% true to myself

My aim is to age gracefully, with minimal to no ailments and to have enough strength to carry my grandkids when I am 60. 😄😁 😉

I have never used the word "blessed" in my life till I started the journey in Yoga. My childhood was not as how typical children experienced childhood. There were alot of drama, trauma, distractions, and disturbance that I never felt I was ever blessed for any reason. Being a child, looking at how other children were lucky enough to have a normal childhood, I felt that I was just a very unlucky child. However, I accepted it, and I suppressed my emotions and feelings within me. I used to be a very quiet person, and throughout time, I had a hard time expressing myself and it gave me a very low self esteem. I would always think that I was never good enough in anything that I do.

Today, I am blessed beyond words for the person I am. I am able to express myself better, I am more confident with myself, and I am able to see things around me on a whole different perspective. There are more clarity to my thoughts and mind. It is all because of the teaching of yoga.

I am now on this beautiful journey of finding my true self. Me just being me and feeling blissful and joyful as this person today.

Grateful, thankful and BLESSED.

And here is my 2 weeks progress. I'm sure all of you are wondering what the countdown is all about, what's the purpose of me working out and focusing on strength training with yoga practice.

I have been doing some reading on the importance of strength training/resistance training for those above 40, especially for women.

When we hit our 40s, a drop in levels of growth hormones causes to reduced muscle mass, increased fat and reduced energy levels. And because of this, it contributes to a slower metabolism. Women may also notice more fat storage around the abdomen due to a drop in oestrogen and should be aware that this also causes a sharp decrease in bone density.

The good thing is that we can help to counteract these processes with resistance training - the most effective way to strengthen bones and muscles.

Any weight-bearing exercise such as walking, badminton, and swimming can help the bone mechanically, forcing it to adapt and become stronger. 

However, lifting weights has the edge because it can build both muscle strength and capacity in the tendons and ligaments that connect the bone to muscle. It also involves the hips, spine, and wrists, strengthening the bones in these sites, which are the most likely to fracture as we age.

Yoga is one of the best practice to be incorporated with strength training as it helps increase mobility and functionality as we build our strength.

When you end up marrying a nair, you have no choice but to have food at nair mess with your nair. 😆

But jokes aside, the food was excellent at this place. It has a very authentic kerala food taste. We had this food just before leaving back to Malaysia from Chennai.

Mr Husband specifically went to this place because there were good reviews of this place and also paham paham je la, the malayalee needs his kerala food cravings satisfied. 😂

So if you are in Chennai, do try their food.
