Farming made easy
Just when you thought AI couldn't make life easier, it's done it again. Farmers now can sit back and relax while the automated robots do most of their work for them. From treating every plant as an individual to measuring the precise amount of pesticide required - all of these can be done by a machine!

Using artificial intelligence to spot breast cancer.

Breast cancer is an increasing problem in low and middle-income countries, but screening programmes for early detection are rare.
A company in India has developed a cheap, non-invasive test that uses thermal imaging and AI.

Although considered less reliable than mammography, it is hoped the test might help spot some early cancers in people who might not otherwise have access to mammography screenings.

THE CASE FOR GENERATIVE AI IN BUSINESS

One of the most exciting and immediately applicable areas of machine learning is generative AI. Generative AI techniques involve multiple neural networks competing against each other. Some try to make plausible yet fake pieces of content, and others try to detect content as being fake. If we set up a loop between them, we can breed more accurate representations of something – human faces for example.

Deep Learning has emerged in the past ten years or so, enabling amazing new predictive processes that can find patterns with patterns, and make order out of chaos.

The latest models are even generating computer code, video, 3D models, virtual personalities, and music on demand from nothing more than a description of the desired output.

ML is here to stay, and we will explore where it goes next with leading researchers in the field

What are quantum-resistant algorithms—and why do we need them?

Cryptographic algorithms are what keep us safe online, protecting our privacy and securing the transfer of information.

But many experts fear that quantum computers could one day break these algorithms, leaving us open to attack from hackers and fraudsters. And those quantum computers may be ready sooner than many people think.

That’s why there is serious work underway to design new types of algorithms that are resistant to even the most powerful quantum computer we can imagine.

Tech Review Explains What are quantum-resistant algorithms—and why do we need them? When quantum computers become powerful enough, they could theoretically crack the encryption algorithms that keep us safe. The race is on to find new ones. Amazon’s new robot can handle most items in the everything store.
Sparrow could shift the balance between humans and machines in the company’s warehouses, using machine learning algorithms and a custom gripper.

AMAZON built an eCommerce empire by automating much of the work needed to move goods and pack orders in its warehouses.

Amazon demonstrated Sparrow for the first time today at the company’s robotics manufacturing facility in Massachusetts.

Sparrow is designed to pick out items piled in shelves or bins so they can be packed into orders for shipping to customers.

Abu Dhabi and Dubai are well positioned to quickly achieve advanced smart city status.
Emirates has a 'perfect playground' in terms of infrastructure and innovative ecosystems of people and industries who share the same vision.

Both emirates have launched several programmes to advance research and development into the upcoming sixth generation of wireless networks, which is attracting top players globally, said Thierry Lestable, executive director of the AI and Digital Science Research Centre at Abu Dhabi's TII.

The two cities are a “perfect playground in terms of the infrastructure being built … and they have innovative ecosystems of people and industries who share the same vision and are deploying these technologies for the benefit of society.

Disease spotting artificial intelligence could be key to cutting hospital pressures.

Recent advances in AI have made automated diagnosis using chest X-ray scans a very real prospect in the medical setting.
The technology originally created to quickly detect Covid-19 from x-ray images has been proven to automatically identify a range of different lung diseases.

The technology uses X-rays, then compares the scans to a database of thousands of images from patients with pneumonia, tuberculosis, and Covid. It then uses a process known as deep convolutional neural network to make a diagnosis.
