Prophet Muhammad received the revelation to pray at the age of 40. Allah (s.w.t.) sent the angel Gabriel to him while he was meditating and praying alone at cave Hira. Through surah Iqra, Allah (s.w.t.) ordered him to stand up and pray. With salah a connection is established with Allah (s.w.t.) through invocating and supplicating by reciting the Qur’an.

We can imagined that Islam is a building supported by five pillars that without one of it, it can collapse. It begins with shahada, salah, sawm,zakat and hajj.

We will go into more detail regarding salah, or prayer, one of the five pillars of Islam, in the upcoming post.

Embodying manners and morals in our children starts with us by modelling good behavior and manners ourselves. A smoker’s parents can’t tell their children to not smoke and screen addicted parents can’t stop their children from sticking to the screen. They see what their parents do and follow their example.

“ One of the scholars of the salaf said a beautiful statement as well. لِيَكُنْ أَوَّلْ إِصْلَاحَكَ لِبَنِيكِ إِصْلَاحُكَ لِنَفْسِكَ Let your first act of discipline for your child be your rectification of yourself. فَإِنَّ عُيُوبَهُمْ مُعَقَّدَةٌ بِعُيُوبِكَ Because their flaws are tied to your flaws. They are knotted up with your flaws. فَالْحَسْنُ عِنْدَهُمْ مَا فَعَلْتُ وَالْقَبِيحُ مَا تَرَكْتُ What they see as good is what you have done, and what they see as evil is what you have abandoned. Your children are learning how to be human beings by watching you.” - Yaqeen Insitute.

Allah (s.w.t.) mentioned in the Qur’an several du’a related to rising our children. Emphasizing the importance of du’a when it comes to rising our children. Parenting is tough work and we must put our reliance on the All-Mighty throughout the journey.

They are also exposed to language’s sounds, rhythms, and patterns. They will eventually develop language and communication as a result of that.

The five pillars of Islam are the testimony of faith, prayer, zakat, fasting of Ramadan, and performing hajj.

Without them, the structure of Islam will collapse. In the book, My First Book On Five Daily Prayers the importance of prayer is highlighted. Making it easy for parents to introduce their kids to one of the main pillars of Islam.

A little girl from Palestine named Reem will be telling all of you the Story of The Stolen Homes. 📚

It begins where in Al-Khalil (Hebron), her family used to have the biggest grape and olive plantations. 🫒🍇

However, her home was stolen almost a century ago forcing her family to be separated by the big wall and she also lost some of our family members. 😔

She then moved to Gaza…
