An important milestone was achieved with the establishment of an Acquisition and Curatorial team to deal with the various aspects surrounding the procurement of artifacts for display at the future Bintulu Museum.
The fun part? Getting a glimpse of the existing piles of treasures hidden away in the vaults of the state museum departments. Wow.

Highly informative visit to Hong Kong’s famous M+ Museum where the curators and administrative staff were gracious enough to host us for a special session at their offices overlooking the iconic Victoria Harbour. Firstly, what inspiring views to have at your workplace!
M+ is unique in that its operations are entirely self-funded, unlike most museums in Hong Kong funded by gambling proceeds from the Hong Kong Jockey Club. As most museums in Malaysia are essentially loss-making, government-funded bodies, we must learn from institutions like M+ on the different revenue generation models to enable us to build world-class museum institutions for our people while lessening the burden on our tax ringgit.
We concluded the session by giving a presentation on Sarawak and Bintulu's museum ambitions, followed with a visit to both M+ and the neighbouring Hong Kong Palace Museum.

Spent the evening in a 'lokap' jail cell but this time on a voluntary basis which was a welcomed change. The Cell HK, a delightful whisky bar set within a century old marine police station with cells once used to hold pirates and smugglers.

Day 1: Bad weather, delays and cancellations, together with large groups of Sukma contingents competing for limited flights from our island to the Peninsula, ensued a chaotic start to our work trip.

But kudos to the overall organisation of the Sukma games. I'm hopeful that with more preparation time before the 2027 Sea Games, we will improve on the logistics and airport facilities as we welcome even larger contingents from all across ASEAN.

Kids these days will never know.
