Paranormal Activity: Next of Kin

Should I watch it? Meh, sure.
What's it about?
A group of filmmakers visit an amish settlement to document the villager's lives. However, as the days pass, the group realise that something is terribly amissh (geddit? amiss-amish? No? OK...).
What's so great about it?
An actual goddamn demon this time instead of ghostly shadows and apparitions.
Key takeaway?
The demon at the end of the movie. Other than that, absolutely nothing.

Night Teeth

Should I watch it? Yes.
What's it about?
Benny takes over for his brother, Jay, as a chauffeur for the evening. Unbeknownst to him, the two female passengers he's driving around are embroiled in a plot involving Jay which would pit vampires against humans for the fate of the entire city of Los Angeles.
What's so great about it?
So many. They never once, throughout the whole movie, used the term "vampire", because it's obvious. Benny and Blaire's sexual tension. A backstory/history that's not really explained, but you get the gist of it through random conversations, the different factions of vampire hunters in the city and the upper vampire hierarchy.
Key takeaway
This is a movie that forces the audience to conduct their own hypothesis and theories. It doesn't spoon feed you the info and it's so refreshing. Also the chemistry between characters and the acting by all three mains are amazing.

What's it about?
A couple dive down a lake to explore a mysterious sunken house with a dark history.
What's so great about it?
A different take on horror. We've had underwater horror, we've had haunted house horror, why not both?
Key takeaway?
Typical "something's weird about this house. Let's explore it" white people trope.

Should I watch it? Ehh... sure.
What's it about?
Continues directly after the previous movie. Michael Myers survived the fire. That's... pretty much it. However, this time around, the survivors from the first movie rally to stop Michael.
What's so great about it?
Small town mob mentality and we see a tiny glimpse into Michael's motives.
Key takeaway?
Small town vengeance at the end of the movie.

What's it about?
It's Halloween and Gonzo is invited to a party celebrating the centennial anniversary of the disappearance of the Great McGuffin. He invites Pepe along who's only interest is meeting and partying with famous people. Once inside the mansion, Gonzo and Pepe must survive the night or be trapped there forever.
What's so great about it?
It's a muppet Halloween-themed movie.
Key takeaway
Can't beat Muppets treasure Island or Muppets Christmas Carol.

Mieruko-chan (Ep1, S1).
Adapted from the horror comedy manga of the same name, Mieruko-chan is about, well, Mieruko, a Japanese high school student who can see ghosts, but tries her best to ignore them, leading to interesting, comical and sometimes scary situations. Mieruko-chan strays from conventional manga to anime adaptations in the sense that it absolutely doesn't follow the original panels from chapter one. Instead, the anime is paving a new route with the storyline. Don't get us wrong, they feature the exact same characters, but the storyline in the first episode is completely different from the manga. The Mieruko-chan manga is ongoing and they've only released the first episode of the anime, but despite episode one being a little slow, it's piqued our curiosity to see where the studio is going to take the anime.

What's it about?
Illegal immigrant Ambar crosses the border to start a new life in America. With very little money and opportunity, she rents a room in a run down townhouse. Unbeknownst to her, something sinister lurks within the building.
What's so great about it?
The story line is straight forward and the jump scares are pretty satisfying. Also, hats off to Christina Rodlo's acting.
