Astro Radio stations are Malaysia’s top choice across all languages!

In Wave 2 of 2024, overall radio reach in Malaysia rose by 2.5%, reaching 93.2% compared to 90.7% in Wave 1. This increase reflects a resurgence in listenership, with more listeners tuning back in after seasonal holidays. Astro Radio’s reach climbed to 72% in Wave 2 from 70% in Wave 1, 2024. Among Astro Radio stations, ZAYAN recorded the highest growth with a 75% increase (+281k listeners), followed by GOXUAN with a 23% increase (+53k listeners). Both ZAYAN and MELODY have shown consistent growth over the past two waves.

In addition to reach, Astro Radio listeners also spent more time with us, averaging 8 hours and 53 minutes per week in Wave 2, an increase of 38 minutes from Wave 1, 2024. This total listening time (TSL) is also the highest recorded compared to Wave 2 of 2023 and 2022. Notably, 9 out of 11 Astro Radio stations experienced an increase in TSL during Wave 2, with RAAGA and MY FM recording the largest gains, each seeing over an hour’s increase.

Astro Radio’s Exclusive Cume stood at 6.3 million, reflecting an increase of 163k compared to Wave 1, 2024. Furthermore, 10 out of our 11 stations reported growth in Wave 2. We continue to lead in key language categories, holding the No.1 and No.2 positions for Malay-language stations (ERA and SINAR) as well as English-language stations (HITZ and MIX).
