Thresher Sharks

Scubazoo first visited Malapascua Island back in 2001 with only a few resorts present on the island, now 23 years later the island looks very different but the threshers have also changed their behaviour. No longer in large numbers at Monad Shoal they have moved to Kimud Shoal, the reef more shallow and the sharks staying for longer periods of the day. This video was filmed over a couple of days with the ever efficient Evolution Beach & Dive Resort during May. With their long, whip-like tails and sleek bodies, thresher sharks are the epitome of elegance in the ocean. These graceful predators are renowned for their distinctive hunting method of using their tails to stun and capture prey.
