Tree Write Up Submitted by Holy Family Catholic Academy:
ALL IS BRIGHT
The students of Holy Family Catholic Academy recognized the famous words "All is
Bright" almost instantly as being lyrics to the Christmas Hymn, "Silent Night".
Each class was thrilled to focus on what all IS bright in the song Silent Night. "Silent Night, Holy Night, all is calm, ALL IS BRIGHT round yon Virgin, Mother and Child!"
8th Grade made paper mâché baubles and then painted their ornaments to represent
calmness, brightness, and the silence of the night.
"Holy Infant, so tender and mild,
sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace." Our own little Infants, the students in Pre-k 3 and Pre-k 4, represented the heavenly peace of a cloudy blue sky, with cotton balls as clouds.
"Silent Night, Holy Night, Shepherds quake at the sight!" The 7th graders symbolized shepherds by a staff, handmade from clay and painted, set
on a paper mâché star, and topped off with a lamb they each made themselves.
"Glories stream from Heaven afar" 4th and 5th graders all weighed in on the interpretation of "Glories stream" by making the
charming stars from humble popsicle sticks, bedecked with paint and glitter.
"
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia, Christ the Savior is born! Christ the savior is born." HFCA's resident angels, the 2nd graders, chose to make their sweet "heavenly hosts" with wood, foam and paint.
"Silent Night, Holy Night, Son of God, love's pure light" The 6th graders are responsible for the paper mâché candles which not only represent
the "pure light" from this verse of the song, but are also a nod to how trees used to be lit
in the olden days before electric lights.
"Radiant beams from Thy holy face, with the dawn of redeeming grace" The students in 1st grade class are shining stars themselves, so it's appropriate that they would make glittery, shiny, radiant shooting stars to illuminate this tree!
When Holy Family's Kindergarteners were asked, "what is bright?" they all answered, "the SUN!" Kindergarteners made suns with clay and then painted them bright with yellow and orange.
"Jesus Lord at thy birth, Jesus Lord at thy birth."
We all know the reason for the season, but thanks to the 3rd graders, we have ornaments of Baby Jesus peeking out of his hay-filled manger to remind us why we even put trees up and decorate them to begin with!
TREE SKIRT
The skirt, made by 8th graders, guides the viewer through the scenes of the holy nativity, with stars pointing the way, as stars usually do.
TREE TOPPER
Real stars in space make their own light but the tree topper on our tree reflects light, as it is covered with a mosaic of mirrors. This 3D topper was constructed completely by 6th, 7th and 8th graders.
