October has been an amazing month for us!

We started the month spending time at a 5 star all-inclusive for a family wedding where our son got to meet 4 of his cousins for the first time.

Mid month we celebrated Kai's second birthday with a new trampoline to help him burn off some energy.

Around the same time, the weather finally started to turn. Instead of the regular 40+ degrees, it started dropping to mid 30's. For this area that makes a huge difference (but still no rain this year).

The drop in temp allowed us to make more trips to the beach, Kai's name literally translates to ocean and he would spend all day in the water if we let him.

And finally, our close friends(Kai's Grandparents) came back to town after being gone for 5 months. We always enjoy their company, conversations and support...and Kai absolutely loves them!

Just 2 months left of 2024...how's that even posible 😲!

So crazy that we're about to start August!! So here are some of our highlights and special moments of July👇

1. "Don't forget me mom," our little traveller always ready to jump on a plane, bus, or car.
2. One of many cathedrals in San Miguel de Allende.
3. Cinnamon buns with friends in San Miguel.
4. Sidewalk dancing under the Bridge Cafe in Guanajuato.
5. Travelling and getting sick was not fun but a moment to remember is the bandana that died his hair pink while trying to bring the fever down!
6. Callejon on route to our Airbnb in Guanajuato, a reminder of all the walking and stair climbing in this town.
7. Mamacita became a full travel queen!
8. Parque Mexico (our fav park ever) to play with a new soccer ball.
9. Mexico City zocalo (historic center)
10. Back home to full summer heat!

Today we want to give space to our old boy Einee on this account and share some happy memories of him. We will make sure he's always present in our life and remember him with a big smile and happiness!

✨️ He went from a very shy puppy, scared of people, to becoming the King of the hostel!

✨️ He was very lucky to have the beach as his backyard, and that's where he'll be forever.

✨️ He did a 2000 km family road trip, moving across the country, got to see many other beaches, cities and travel in a fancy cabin on a ferry.

✨️ Had the biggest collection of bandanas, and started a trend where many other local dogs started wearing them too!

✨️ He was a very good hangover buddy for many guest at our hostel, but his favorite one was (sorry couldn't find any pic with you)

✨️ He was always ready for a yoga class, thanks Felix!

✨️ He was part of a big crew of fur friends that spent every morning running and jumping waves, they also got us in lots of trouble as they used to get out of control very easily.....right

✨️ These two were King and the Queen of the beach (Einee and Chiki),  she was his best friend for many years.

✨️ He was a massive fan of sunsets and most likely that's why now his little brother Kai is everyday waiting to watch it too.

To everyone who has reached out to us, thank you. We are grateful for your kind words and we appreciate all the love you have sent us.

To our boy, we love you so much. You made such a wonderful impact on our life. Thank you Einee, you will be forever missed, forever in our hearts🫶

Imagine finding out you don't even qualify for maternity leave.

Some people receive 12 weeks while others get a full year, and some do not even qualify for maternity leave.

While pregnant Tyler and I owned and operated our own restaurant. I tried to work throughout most of my pregnancy either at our shop or doing prep work. But deep down I knew this was going to be a struggle. About half way though, I started researching ways of working online. Because we were self employed, noone was gonna pay me to stay home and take care of our son. That meant absolutely zero maternity leave for me.

After our son was born Ty decided to close our shop for a month. So technically paternity leave lasted about 30 days for him but without pay and nowhere near long enough.

I went back to work helping my him as soon as I could, serving tables and helping customers with my boy strapped to my chest. It was obvious this wasn't gonna last long but I did whatever I could to help, though now I had a backup plan. I had been slowly building up our online brand, creating content, gaining momentum and experience.

Fast forward 15 months, we have permanently closed our restaurant and both my husband and I work online together. Neither of us are forced to work the 10 hour daily, coming home to our boy already sleeping, missing out on special moments like first steps, first words or first avocado dance (yes he really does dance for avocado 🥑).

We are so grateful to have found a business that allows us to be our own boss, make our own schedule and work from home(or anywhere else we choose). We are also forever grateful to the community of amazing people we work with who have been and continue to be so supportive throughout our journey.
