Sailing Mañana

Boat life update: What we thought would be a super productive time on the hard for Sailing Mañana has turned out to be anything but—at least for us! While the mechanics are doing an amazing job diagnosing our engines (shoutout to Mario Ruiz and his team), Josh and I have been completely sidelined with a brutal stomach bug.

I’ve never been this sick in my life—day three for me and now day one for Josh. The vomiting, hot and cold flashes, and overall misery have us both down for the count. Please send prayers and positive vibes for a speedy recovery so we can get back to work and prepare for the journey ahead to Mexico.

Life on the water isn’t always smooth sailing, but here’s hoping for calmer seas soon. 💙

Update from Rio Dulce, Guatemala

We want to let everyone know that we’re doing just fine here on the river. The second video, taken about an hour ago from The Point in Utila, Honduras, shows the intensity of Tropical Storm Sara. Thankfully, here in Rio Dulce, we’re only experiencing light rain and cooler temperatures.

The first video is from Edo’s, where we spent some great times and made several friends, including a few memorable moments of Josh singing there.

Our thoughts are with our friends in and around the Bay Islands of Honduras as Sara continues to linger. She’s moving at a snail’s pace, causing catastrophic flooding and mudslides in parts of Central America.

Sara became the 18th named storm of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season when she formed Thursday afternoon, and it looks like she’ll stick around through the weekend.

Chispita is home from the vet, and everything went smoothly with her procedure! She’s being a trooper with the cone around her neck—although she’s not exactly thrilled about it.

For those of you with kitties, we’d love any tips or advice! How did you help your fur babies adjust after their spay or neuter? Any tricks for keeping them comfy and content during recovery? Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom—we want to make sure Chispita gets all the best care! 🐾💙

Tomorrow’s a big day for little Chispita! At 9 a.m., our feisty boat kitten will be heading to the vet to be neutered. Let’s all send up some positive vibes and prayers that everything goes smoothly and that she stays healthy. Watching her play on the boat, it’s hard to believe how fast she’s grown! 🐾💙 Thank you all for the love and support! 🌊💫
