We want to provide low cost solar systems to businesses across Mexico and are looking for investors to get this business started. On average each business has five light bulbs, a small television and one outlet which they use to charge a mobile phone or run a radio. This is not a large amount of amperage and can easily be handled by a small scale solar system with just two batteries and two panels
. Regardless of this most businesses remain connected to the CFE grid. The average electrical rate is 1.7$ MXN per kilowatt hour, which is around 11¢ USD per kilowatt hour, comparable to what people pay in the United States or Canada. The trend toward solar energy has been a great commercial success, especially for those companies supplying big corporations and governments with large scale solar solutions. Investments from these large contracts have driven a number of scientific innovations over the past decade. Meaning that solar energy has the promised potential to be the way of the future. However while these innovations do mean that solar energy is the “way of the future”, these great benefits have not become part of the lives, houses or even businesses frequented by regular people. The reason is that working, easy-to-install tech for the small down marketplace is still out of reach, both in the sense of being too complicated to be installed without help, but also in the sense of being too expensive and dangerous to install and maintain on the scale needed for regular life. Although most companies promise (and charge for) professional installation, this is an additional cost that requires knowledge above and beyond what most working people have time to develop in their spare time. We seek to make solar easy to use, plug and play single unit systems which can be installed in a few minutes, with an instruction manual and a few common household tools; rather than requiring professional installers. Making single unit systems also brings down costs, and most of all makes it possible for working people to gain the benefit of solar energy for all or even part of their application (house / business / workplace), without having to worry about the underlying specifics of the system.
