CHOLERA PATIENT REFUSING TO BE TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL

News have alerted us that in Lilongwe area 36, a man was refusing to go for a medical treatment after being diagnosed with Cholera.

Insights have indicated that this man belongs to a religion that forbids them from seeking medical help.

This then forced the public health servicers to involve the police so as to force the man to go for the Cholera outbreak treatment.

Currently, Cholera is spreading out very fast in most parts of Malawi. Therefore we're still being advised to take all precautionary measures with the aim of helping kill the spread.

We have more to come, please be there.

MZUZU MAYOR IN POLICE CUSTODY FOR DEFILEMENT

Mayor for Mzuzu City, Gift Desire Nyirenda, who is also a senior member of the ruling Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has been arrested on allegations that he defiled a 14-year-old child.

According to Mzuzu Police, it was reported that during the night of August 1, 2022 at Nkhorongo location in Luwinga, the victim who is a standard seven girl was sleeping together with the suspect’s daughter at their home.

Nyirenda went to the children’s room only to switch off the lights and then he left.

After some few minutes, he went back to the children’s room and he went straight to the bed of the victim where he r***d the child.

He wanted to give the victim two thousand kwacha but she refused.
He, however, threatened her not to reveal or she will be killed.

POLICE COMMENT ON ALLEGED ACCIDENTAL SHOOTING IN LILONGWE

Malawi Police Service have confirmed the arrest of a fellow police officer, Sub Inspector David Chitsike, in connection to the alleged accidental shooting of a 36-year-old fitness trainer, Chikondi Makawa, in Lilongwe.

National Police Public Relations Officer, Peter Kalaya, said that once all the investigations are done they will update the nation.

"We are aware of the incident and at the moment we have placed the officer involved in the fracas in our custody, once all the investigations are done we will update the nation accordingly," Kalaya said.

Information gathered indicates that the deceased asked for a bottle of water at the bar but did not pay for it.

The owner of the bar called for police support at Gateway Mall Police Unit, where the officer accidentally shot Makawa in the chest.

Meanwhile, the deceased family in Area 49 said they cannot comment on the matter as they are currently mourning.

"We will come back to you once we are done with the burial arrangements, at the moment there are a lot of versions on social media to which we cannot respond," said a representative of the family.

ESCOM TO CLOSE OR INCREASE TARIFFS

The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (Escom) says there is a need to adjust upward end-user tariffs if the power utility body is to sustain its operations.

ESCOM’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Kamkwamba Kumwenda, said this on Tuesday during a presser in Blantyre.

He said the state-owned power utility body has been operating at a loss, which cumulatively stands at K112 billion since its unbundling in 2018.

According to Kumwenda, Escom currently buys electricity from power producers at K140 per kilowatt per hour but sells it to the end-user at K104 per kilowatt per hour, a thing he said is crippling operations.

“Escom is dying. The choice is ours; either we close Escom or increase tariffs,” Kumwenda said.

Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi Limited is the state-owned power transmission and distribution company in Malawi.

THE COURT HAS ADJOURNED BUSHIRI'S CASE TO 22nd AUGUST

Lilongwe Chief Resident Magistrate Madalitso Chimwaza has adjourned the extradition case of Prophet Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary Bushiri to 22 August where she will give a ruling on how witnesses will give their evidence.

She will deliver the ruling on whether state witnesses should testify in the extradition case physically or while in South Africa.

Wapona Kita, who is representing the Bushiris explained that the law requires that witnesses must be physically available in the extradition case.

Kita said that unlike arguments by the state, the physical presence of witnesses in a Malawi court is a primary option.

He also argued that the state has not presented to court appropriate circumstances to have witnesses take depositions in South Africa.

He said Covid-19 situation is gone, flights are operating daily between Malawi and South Africa, accommodation in Lilongwe is not a challenge and there is nothing impeding witnesses from travelling to Malawi.

But Director of Public Prosecutions, Steven Kayuni told the court that in their skeleton arguments submitted to the court, taking depositions from witnesses while in South Africa before a competent court will be the best.

Kayuni explained that the courts in South Africa are capable enough to handle the witnesses and procedures used will be fair and adequate.

He further argued that Bushiri will be able, in his capacity, to instruct lawyers in South Africa to examine the witnesses, hence the Chief Resident Magistrate should refer the matter to High Court to issue an order to South Africa to have witnesses take depositions there.

GWAMBA, KELL KAY AND EPHRAIM NYONDO DRAG TO COURT, MARTSE'S BROTHER JEROMY OVER RITUAL SACRIFICE CLAIMS

Following a video that went viral from Jerome Nkhata, brother to the late rapper Martin Nkhata in which he claimed that there was suspicions over his brother’s death, those allegedly mentioned to be the master-minders have taken the matter to court.

Gwamba and Kell Kay go to court
In the summon document, the three, musician Kell Kay real name Kelvin Kambwiri, musician Gwamba real name Duncan Zgambo and Prophet Bushiri’s Communications Manager Ephraim Nyondo are seeking for aggravated damages for character assassination and an injunction restraining Jerome from further publishing the said claims.

In the video Jerome said Zgambo, Nyondo and Kambwiri could have been involved in the ritual murder of his brother Martse

Another one also issued with the summon is Prophet George Chinoko who is based in South Africa, the last person to speak to Martse before his death and again released a video to confirm that Martse was ritually sacrificed and that Gwamba was the one who was largely mentioned by the late rapper.

Meanwhile, the defendants (Nkhata and Chikoko) have been ordered to file a response of the claims leveled against them of wishing to contest or to stay the proceedings within 14 days.

The matter is before Judge Violet Chipao at Lilongwe High Court, Civil Division and the claimants are being represented by Counsel Jimion Nyanda of the Lion Rock Attorneys at Law.

The late Martin Nkhata popularly known by his stage name Martse died on May 23, having succumbed to fire burns which he sustained in a house fire while he was on vacation in Mangochi.

COURT ORDERS SEIZURE OF THE KANENGO GAM FILLING STATION OVER A 1.5 MILLION KWACHA DEPT

A Lilongwe-based businessman has lost a filling station worth about MK2.5 billion for pushing someone to settle his debt amounting to MK1.5 million.

The victim, of what a legal mind calls strange court judgement, Geleson Mkweza, has been left with so many questions and suspicion with the court’s decision which favoured his debtor.

Mkweza ran a filling station at Kanengo in Lilongwe under the name Gam Fuels LTD.

Sheriffs order
A court order in our possession shows that in August 2020 Alfred Gangata, another businessperson, got fuel on credit from Gam Fuels LTD amounting to MK1, 500,000 meant for heavy equipment machines with a promise that the bill would be settled by with a week.

Court records indicate that Gangata couldn’t pay for over six months forcing Mkweza to take away keys from a construction motor vehicle belonging to Gangata.

Gangata sued Mkweza for loss of business and profits because he was unable to use the motor vehicle in question.

Gangata was demanding about MK1 billion for lost of business and profits.

High Court Judge Ken Manda granted Gangata his wish but the reduced the sought amount to MK747 million.

Court order
In his judgement, dated June 29, 2022, justice Manda argued that by confiscating the motor vehicle keys the defendant took the law in his own hand when he had the right to commence legal action.

“What surprises this court most is that the 1st defendant (Mkweza) is so adamant that he had the right to confiscate the machinery. He did not have that right.

“His conduct in doing so, coupled with the fact that he does not deny confiscating the keys of the claimaint’s machinery, makes the claimaint’s application for judgement on admission succeed” reads the judgement.

Disatisfied with the court’s decision Mkweza applied for a stay of the judgment ex parte but the court ordered that it should be inter parties.

Again dissatisfied with this direction, Mkweza, through his lawyer Kalekeni Kaphale, applied to the Supreme Court for stay of the lower court decision but the application was rejected – consequently allowing for enforcement of the earlier judgement.

“What was more surprising is the speed at which things have happened. I mean on the same day after the Supreme Court issued it’s determination, sherrifs closed the filling station and notified the owner that it up for sale and a buyer had already been identified” said the source who is well informed about this issue.

“I have closed the filling station ‘Gam Fuels LTD’ pending the selling of the same by private treaty as per the order of the court” reads the notice dated July 21, 2022 from Assistant Sheriff identified as Mwale.

Meanwhile Bishop Simama has already deposited a cheque worth MK610 million to buy a Filling Station which include shops and offices valued at MK2.5 billion to settle a claim of about MK747 million.

In an interview one of the legal practitioners, who refused to be named, also described this as strange:

“It is true that Mkweza may have overreacted to grab the keys but surely the court should have been more reasonable and lenient.

“Here is someone who makes MK3 million per day for drilling boreholes but couldn’t pay a debt amounting to MK1.5 million? And then, Mkweza should have been given time; the confiscating of the filling station is rather quick; did they value it at that amount? Who did the valuation? Was the owner involved? This , somehow, raises questions” said the lawyer.

We have more to come.

A MAN WHO R***D TWO WITCHES FOR 2 HOURS

A 43 year-old widower from Saselamani outside of Giyani south Africa locked two women inside his house and sexually assaulted them for hours.

According to his neighbours, who were ready to burn the suspected witches, Alfred took quite an unusual route in handling the situation.

“There was no doubt we caught them performing witchcraft, and they were supposed to be burned. On my way to work at around 4 AM, I saw the two naked women stuck inside Alfred’s yard.”

“I called him to come out, and I was rounding up other community members to bring petrol and tires to do what needed to be done. Alfred said not to worry. He will deal with them his way and dragged them inside his house and locked the doors.”

His neighbour, who wishes to remain anonymous, said he heard screams and moaning coming from the house, and Alfred was refusing to open the door.

“I decided to call the police who arrived a few hours later. I thought if he killed them both alone, he was going to jail for murder as opposed to mob justice, the police came and kicked down the door, and it was something I’ve never seen before. The floor was wet with a mixture of his manly fluid and their womanly fluids. He had tied them to the table. He was acting like an animal.”

Police took all three of them to the local police station, and they were all released that same day. The women refused to open a case against Alfred even though he abused them for over three hours. In his own words, Alfred said he did what he did because he figured they already bewitched him.

He said a prophet told him two women are busy putting a curse on him not to marry again, so he wanted to take his sexual frustration out on them.

The police said they let Alfred go after the three of them shook hands and agreed not to bother each other again. “Alfred wanted the two women to say they will no longer bewitch him if they want to be safe from him.”

UTHENGA OCHOKELA KWA KELL KAY

"No one deserves to work so hard in his career and make a name for himself and have this same name thrown in the mad in a day simply because someone recorded a video badmouthing me and yet he has zero evidence about what he's saying.

Martse was my best friend at a point in time, I loved him like a brother but moyo ndi moyo we eventually fell off because of something that happened in the past. I kept quiet for years not telling people what happened between me and my brother martse because i left it and moved on from the situation. The reason was burried until that prophet muk*ti ndani Kaya wakamba something that I have kept for so long komwe kuli kulakwitsa. We all moved on and after about 5 years mukuzibwelesa,k*ti zimveke bwanji? There's a reason why I kept quiet and said nothing plus I respect people's privacy.

Martse apologized to me after years, we were okay koma not like before. Trust me I don't wanna say anything bad about my late brother but because of his behavior he was left out on my show not k*ti ndimamuda ayi we made peace and honest to God I forgave him nazitaya zomwe anandipangila mbuyomu. I remember last year music festival we went to mangochi and perfomed together, we perfomed together and this same year in mzuzu club we perfomed together. I never hated him in any way but because of his behaviour which I don't want to go into details about, him and I were not close like before.

When he got into that accident people wanted me to cancel my show, something that I had planned for months and spent a lot of money on. The international artists were already in the country, it was impossible to cancel the show.

I prayed for him personally, as a country we prayed for him, family and friends all prayed for martse but he left us and I had never been so broken 💔 😭😭😭 no one deserves to die like that. I asked God why, I cried and cried, but only He (God) knows best.

Because of how close me and Martse were, my whole family came to the funeral to pay their last respects to him but anadabwa ndikupasidwa security k*ti sindingatuluke ndekha because anthu akufuna alimbane naneđŸ„ș

I have been malo ambili and I never go with security koma for the 1st time in my life,I was told I needed security, and it happened to be at my friends funeral. I saw tears in my mother's eyes,my sisters as well, crying that Martse is gone and feeling sorry for me. Then naletsedwa kupita ku manda ak*ti anthu akulimbanabe nane naletsedwa kupita kunyumba kwanga ak*ti anthu akufuna kukaphwanya my house . My wife rushed home to get our baby Octavia ndik*thawako 😭 I was so down but I left everything in God's hands.

2 months down the line, zayambilanso and that pastor kaya muti ndani says 3 people are connected to martse's death and he mentioned my name pompo saying I'm partly connected mmmh may God forgive you.

I don't understand how my name is connected to bushiri, for starters, I do not go to ECG, I'm SDA. Ndimamvanso mphekesela k*ti people were saying he sponsored my show k*ti kubwele mafikizolo ati ineyo ndilibe ndalama, zonsezo zabodza. The only sponsors for my recent show were FDH bank and that's it.

I launched my first album in 2019 I had no sponsors at all.

I launched it in Blantyre and only safintra and agri-zone international came through for me.

I have done shows but I have never been sponsored by bushiri, I have 2 albums now sanandigulekonso olo kamodzi, anthu ena osiyana siyana are the ones that have been buying my albums. I am only friends with gwamba, who is bushiri's in law.

This news has affected me and my family so much, mind you, I went to school but not once have I used my degree. I am strictly in the music industry and that's what puts food on my table now you want to destroy all that?

Mwandiona ndikuzunzika kuyimba ndikujambula ma video ochuluka kuyenda madela osiyanasiyana osapuma kusaka ndalama now mwati ndife a satanic?

I don't brag I don't disturb you people ndizinthu zomwe ndili nazo but you always want to look for reasons to pull me down, Amalawi tinalakwa chani? Enanu you hate me just for being me,and you're among the group of people attacking me for something that's not even true, koma it's okay, Ambuye alipo and akuona.

Ife mukatitsitsa kenako mupezenso ena muwatsitse dziko litukuka bwanji tikulimbana tokhatokha?

To Martse's family, please let us mourn Martse in peace, don't look for someone to blame chonde, let God be God ngati alipo someone connected to his death God will expose them musalimbane ndi anthu osalakwa ayi. May God bless you."
