CORONA VIRUS
--------------------------
As I sit in isolation,
And think of loved ones young n old.
I think of future generations,
To whom this story shall be told!
The year Corona Virus,
Gripped the world around the lung
The year a global cleansing
Was first encouraged, then begun.
A virus so highly contagious,
From host to host this thing survives.
Some lucky enough to outgrow it,
Others who sadly lost their lives.
The message was global, united
Stay indoors, stay out of the way.
With businesses closed, and hobbies on pause,
As Doctors and Nurses work hard night n day!
It was the year the world stood still,
Town centres, buses n trains were empty.
Our worldly attraction's, cast shadows alone,
Where once there was visitors plenty!
We all washed our hands, some till they were raw,
Scarves and masks worn to cover our faces.
It's hard to believe, how quick this thing spread,
People's cities n towns, favourite places.
The lockdown was real, the streets were all bare,
Retired nurses called back to front line.
Our armies despatched, to guard our streets
And keep us indoors at this time!
We lived through a global pandemic,
Shopped for our elders n homeschooled the kids.
It was hard on our lonely n vulnerable,
As their loved ones they had to miss.
But the love n support that was given,
The wonderful stories of hope,
Helped heal the world n it's lockdown,
And gave us the strength to cope.
So as I sit in isolation,
And think of loved ones young n old.
I think of future generations,
To whom this story shall be told.....
