CHIKWAWA NKOMBEDZI MP ABIDA MIA TO MEET CHIEFS TOMORROW.

The Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Nkombedzi Abida Mia is meeting all chiefs in her Constituency tomorrow Satarday December 23.

The meeting will give a chance chiefs to appreciate some of the developments which have so far completed and some which are yet to to be implemented.

Speaking today at Ngabu when meeting Malawi Congress Party (MCP) leaders, Mia who is also Minister of Water and Sanitation says she has managed to construct Therere Health Center, alleviate water problems, planting schemes among other major developments.

She also told the large gathering today that she will make sure to complete all projects that have been set in time so that come 2025 polls everything should be in order.

Nevertheless MCP campaign Director responsible for South Phillimon Thomu has commended Mia for the support she is rendering to Community.

Over 3000 attendees have enjoyed the banquet organised by MP mark the start of festive seasons both Christmas and New Year.

NYANGU PRIMARY SCHOOL WEARS A NEW FACE.

Learners who used to attend classes under the trees at Nyangu primary school in Chikwawa District now have found solace following construction of school block, thanks to Lodrick Sam Khumbanyiwa, Member of parliament for the area, Chikwawa East Constituency.

The school block has been constructed using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in a bid to enhance education standards in the area.

Khumbanyiwa stated that this is no mean achievement as he is geared to construct more school blocks in the area."I have more schools which need blocks since many learners are attending lessons under the trees This is worrisome. I will ensure to use funds meant for development to enhance education standards".

Khumbanyiwa discloses that he will open other school blocks that are in final touches in his area under CDF.

The Headteacher for Nyangu primary School Emmanuel Thonje was over the moon following the newly constructed school block at the school.

He said, "Our enrollment is relatively higher. There is a need of more school blocks since some learners are learning outside".

He also pointed out that lessons are disturbed in times of bad weather."For instance this time around we are in rainy seasons. Due to heavywinds and rainfall we can't conduct lessons outside, classes are disturbed all over. The block will help us alot". He added.

The high enrollment rate at Nyangu primary school has forced authorities to conduct double shifting phases whereby some learners attend classes in the morning hours and others during the afternoon.

Following the development, Group Nyangu has appealed to MP Khumbanyiwa and other education players to take action on the matter.
"MP Khumbanyiwa has become our beacon of hope. He is a man of people. He has been promising us about the development and today we have witnessed" Nyangu commended.
Group Nyangu has also asked villagers to protect the building saying vandalism retards development in the community.

*Teacher in cooler for having sexual in*******se with a minor*

Police in Chikwawa are keeping in custody a 40 year old man, Boston Navaya, a teacher at Chilumba Primary School in Ngabu, for having sexual in*******se with a 14 year old standard 6 girl.

It is alleged that on the 27th of June 2023, the victim and her friend went to a netball competition to represent their school. The two girls were escorted by their teacher who is the suspect on his Motorcycle. After the netball match, the suspect told the girls that his Motorcycle had developed a problem and he could not manage to carry them both.

The suspect then asked his friend who also had a motorcycle to carry the victim's friend, whilst he carried the victim.On their way home ,the suspect diverted to a certain rest house where he slept with the girl.

The matter was reported to Ngabu Police by the mother of the victim. The suspect was arrested on 30 October, 2023 after being on the run for three months.

Meanwhile, police in the District have assured the general public that the law shall never spare anyone who sexually abuse children and anyone found Will face the long arm of the law.

The suspect will soon appear in court to answer the charges of having sexual in*******se with a minor contrary to section 138 sub section (1) of the penal code.

*Girl 10,dies in road accident in Chikwawa*

A 10-year old standard two learner at Chikwawa primary school has died in road accident that occurred on October 24, 2023 at Chikwawa along Kapichira-Majete road.

The deceased has been identified as Kallen Magwira of Mbenderana Village Traditional Authority (TA) Kasisi in Chikwawa district.

The accident involved a motorvehicle registration number BM9199 Toyota Hilux double cabin which was driven by Andrew Rietmann 26, who was driving the Motor Vehicle from direction of Chikwawa boma to Kapichira.

Upon arrival at Chikwawa primary school the driver hit a Pedestrian, Kallen Magwira due to over speeding.

Following the impact, Magwira sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Chikwawa Hospital.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle is in police custody and will be taken to court soon to answer charge of causing death by reckless driving which is contrary to section 126 of the Road Traffic Act.

Police therefore has asked motorists to observe speed limits whenever using Kapichira - Majete road to avoid such accidents.
