This week's RTRFM feature release is 's Hypnotized.

Chicago-based producer and dancer DJ Manny has released a new album Hypnotized, out on English experimental dance music label Planet Mu. Full of fresh ideas, Hypnotized sees Manny push the footwork format of 160 bpm, syncopated, hyper-rhythmic music in exciting new directions.

Born and raised in Harvey on the South-Side of Chicago, DJ Manny has been footworking since the age of ten. The footwork sound has developed in unison with the dance style that accompanies it, and Manny embodies this synergy between. As a young man, DJ Manny was the protégé of the late great DJ Rashad, and Rashad’s influence reverberates through his music.

Hypnotized solidifies his singularly emotive production style, with tracks ranging from relaxed R&B rollers to moments of romantic distress, to more intense moments like the dubstep-inflected Ooh Baby from the vaults, co-produced by DJ Rashad himself.

Other tracks retool minimal techno tropes or fragments of twitchy acid house while others borrow from the dark and nervous energy of pumping jungle—all welded together with footwork rhythms. Hypnotized is an album that expands footwork's template with natural ease and outstanding skill; staying true to the genre's iconic musical signposts and spirit while incorporating some of dance music's most universal and emotive elements."

The new album by Speaker Music ' Techxodus' is out this Friday.

DeForrest Brown Jr., the writer and producer behind Speaker Music describes Techxodus as "abstracting Blackness through information overload" or as he states in the first track "Black music that sounds technological, rather than music made with technology." On Techxodus, he stakes out the intersection of tech, Blackness and resistance via music he's performed live and edited, ordered and reassembled in the studio.
