One new imported case has been confirmed today, a 32-year-old male Macau resident living in Taiwan, 3/2 visited Hong Kong and then Shenzhen, 3/4 from Shenzhen to Cambodia, 3/16 Dubai and then returned to Cambodia on 3/19. 4/7 on flight K6198 (seat 20D) to Macau, at Macau border post declared symptoms including cough.
This took the total of imported cases to 35 (10 local cases were previously discharged).

Macau government has unveiled details of its MOP10 billion bailout fund, which is actually more than MOP13 billion. It is aimed primarily at protecting local jobs at local companies, including a handout of MOP15,000 for every non-government worker (below the monthly salary of MOP60,000) plus another MOP5,000 in e-coupons for everyone. Business owners will get up to MOP200,000, depending on the number of staff.

Today is a day of national mourning across China for officially designated “martyrs” who died in the fight against COVID-19, as well as those who died of the disease. Flags will fly at half-mast across the country and in all Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, and public recreational activities will be suspended. At 10am, three minutes of silence will be observed, while air raid sirens and horns of automobiles, trains and ships will be sounded.

Hong Kong confirmed 65 new cases today, its highest ever in one day, taking the city’s total number to 518.

Guangdong added 12 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, all imported from overseas, nine of which were in Guangzhou, and one each in Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Zhanjiang. One case was discharged.

-Beginning at midnight, Macau will no longer allow entry to anyone with a recent travel record overseas, except local residents, who must go into 14-day quarantine upon arrival.

Hengqin is getting back to work. Wu Chuangwei, deputy director of Hengqin New District, told reporters that 919 (near 89%) Hengqin companies have resumed work, with about 55,000 staff having returned. MGM China has announced an innovative new payment program designed to support its suppliers through the difficult financial conditions being experienced at present in Macau. It comes after the company says it surveyed more than 600 local SMEs with whom it had built “long-term partnerships”.
The new program has two components. One involves up-front payments to suppliers for future expected deliveries of goods and services. The other is a fast-track payment system set up to ensure they are paid within 14 days of providing their deliverables.
