The book making process of Rusty Fox’s “Nocturnal” is now displaying at the exhibition “做書「碌士」A—Z：Notes On Book Making”, together with Alan Ieon’s “Enclosed Landscape” (published by brownie publishing).
The exhibition takes place at Pin-to Livro & Musica 1F until July 30. ✨What a good opportunity to look closer into the materials and thinking processes behind the projects if you enjoy the photo books. 😉

Rusty Fox 在新出的攝影集《Nocturnal》（夜行者）裏帶來了城市中植物的擬人形態。疫情封所期間悄悄地在街上四處遊蕩，藝術家發現植物在完全靜止的城市生活下生長得比以往更茂盛，亦是被這股生命力所吸引，他萌生計劃該系列創作。儘管捕捉的是植物的靜止形態，它們的肢體語言卻能比言詞表達來得更為動人心弦。
由紙張質感、圖像呈現與敍述，乃至整個閱讀體驗，《Nocturnal》都在邀請讀者能像翻閱一本老舊的怪談小說般進入生活以外那另類但平行的世界。

⋯⋯那些夜行者們，在暗夜的眼光餘波處盡展詭祕嫵媚。他們那變硬、皺縮、鱗次的皮膚，偶然張開，露出那暗示生命源頭的詭祕深滘陰深誘人，突出的樹瘤與扭拐的枝梗有如狂迷般手舞足蹈。

New Book Release—
“Nocturnal” is Rusty Fox’s latest photobook capturing the body-like forms of plants in the city. Starting during the Pandemic lockdown in Macau, the artist sneaked out at night and wandered around and noticed that the plants were thriving more than ever. The vividness of the plants at a time when everything else is in perfect stillness has initiated the project. Despite his subject being plants, their body language speaks louder than words.
“Nocturnal” is an invitation to the parallel but alternative world, starting with the texture of the paper, the imagery narrative, and ultimately the whole reading experience, as if reading a mysterious tale from a vintage novel.
