Announcement 🚨

OneBeat is now accepting applications for two month-long U.S.-based music exchanges scheduled for the spring and fall of 2024. OneBeat 13 (April-May) & OneBeat 14 (September-October) will bring 50 total musicians (ages 19-35) from select countries to collaboratively write, produce and perform original music, and develop strategies for arts-based social engagement. Each session begins with a residency followed by a tour. OneBeat Fellows will perform for a wide array of American audiences, collaborate with local musicians, and lead workshops with youth. After the program, OneBeat musicians return to their home countries and communities to develop projects linked to mutually-reinforcing networks of music-driven social enterprises.

La chanteuse et danseuse de « vakodrazana » Bakomanga tire sa révérence

Antananarivo, 2 Juillet, 19h02 – Bakomanga, de son vrai nom Mariette Rasoarinala, quitte définivement la scène après l'avoir illuminée de sa présence et de son talent pendant plus de 60 ans. La chanteuse et danseuse folklorique est décédée ce jeudi des suites d'un accident vasculaire cérébral, rapportent ses proches. Elle avait 76 ans.

C'est à 13 ans que Bakomanga commence à chanter. Elle intègre la troupe Ramafadrahona avant de lancer son propre groupe, Bakomanga en 1996. Celui-ci fera avec elle de nombreuses tournées internationales, et portera haut le « vakodrazana » dans le monde entier, d'Est en Ouest, du Japon aux Etats-Unis.
