My freelance journey as a student 🚀

When I was just a student at Govt. College of Pharmacy, pursuing my III B. Pharm, I stumbled upon an incredible opportunity that shaped my career in unimaginable ways. 💪

I spent quite some time working with GateForum. I used to prepare mock question papers (with detailed solutions) for pharmacy GATE (now GPAT). This was my first freelance experience even without any experience or expertise. I was not even aware of the term freelance that time ☺

So, why am I sharing this story with you today? Here's the deal:

👉 These learnings were cornerstone to my entry into the fascinating world of scientific/medical writing ➡ medical communications ➡ digital communications

👉 Opportunities are everywhere, all we need is to grab with right intent and give our 200%

👉 Every fresher can gain invaluable experience (only if he/she is interested). even without paid internships. Don't wait for opportunities – CREATE them! My first assignment was a free project, the client liked the work and signed a contract for 2 years!

👉 Every opportunity can teach something. The learnings depend on what you're willing to learn 📚

👉 Learning is only the first step – taking ACTION is where real growth happens. Continuous learning is crucial, but it's only valuable when you IMPLEMENT what you've learned. You will not become v2.0 unless you implement those learnings.

👉 We can never learn everything that exists. Learning is a continuous process, and its direction depends on the purpose. With a solid purpose, learning can be fun and interesting.

PS: My experience with GATEForum was the beginning of my journey in scientific/medical writing. It fueled my passion for research, content creation, and connecting with a niche audience. 🌱 When I started my M. Pharm in Pharmacognosy, I admit I wasn't thrilled 😒 I had my heart set on studying .

I felt trapped with no other choice but Pharmacognosy. Everyone around me seemed discouraging 👎 and it made me feel even worse.

But guess what? I turned things around! Instead of letting it get me down, I explored other areas and stumbled upon medical writing while working on my M. Pharm thesis. And that's where my journey took off!

It's been 16 years in the world of medical writing, and here are my key learnings for all of you worried about your current path:

🔍 Focus on the present, keep learning and ignore the naysayers. What you learn today doesn't invalidate your past; it only shapes a brighter future.

💡 No learning is ever wasted! My Pharmacognosy knowledge came in handy in understanding pharmaceuticals and herbal industries, leading to better project outcomes.

📚 If you have the urge to learn something new, just go for it! I'm still pursuing my love for pharmacology and by teaching others. You can do the same!

🌟 Every day is a chance to learn and grow. Embrace opportunities and challenges and pave your unique path to success. Trust your instincts and soar high! 🚀

Medical writing, especially medico-marketing writing, has become an auspicious career opportunity for pharmacy professionals, doctors and life sciences graduates.

I shall be starting a full-fledged course in medical writing (with a focus on scientific/publication writing and medico-marketing) for those interested from July 10, 2023. This training program would last for about 2-3 months (08-12 weeks) and you will get hands-on experience and a certificate. The learning won't stop with the course completion. How to Choose a Career Path

Choosing a career path can be tough. Here are some tips to help you find the right fit:

✅ Understand your strengths and weaknesses. What are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? What are you passionate about?

✅ Reflect on your motivations. What are you looking for in your career? Do you want to make a difference in the world? Do you want to be challenged? Do you want to make a lot of money?

✅ Outline your career goals (short & long-term). What do you want to achieve in your career? Do you want to move up the corporate ladder? Do you want to start your own business?

✅ Research different career paths. Once you have a better understanding of yourself, you can start to research different career paths that align with your interests, skills, and values.

✅ Get the necessary skills and experience. If you don't have the necessary skills and experience for the career you want, don't worry. There are plenty of ways to get them. You can take classes, get certified, or gain experience through internships or volunteer work.

✅ Apply for jobs and ace your interviews. Once you've done your research and you're confident that you have the skills and experience to succeed in a particular career, it's time to start applying for jobs. Be sure to tailor your resume and cover letter to each job that you apply for. And don't forget to practice your interviewing skills.

Choosing a career path is an important decision, but it doesn't have to be a daunting one. By following these tips, you can find a career that you're passionate about and that will allow you to reach your full potential.

Medical writing, especially medico-marketing writing, has become an auspicious career opportunity for pharmacy professionals, doctors and life sciences graduates.
