We live in a society where the Filipino language is seen as inferior compared to English, where more and more people prefer using it in academic disciplines. The same way goes for ridiculing the Manila accent. I believe that being socially aware and appreciating our accent is one of the first steps in giving more value to our own language.

FIL: Nabubuhay tayo sa isang lipunan kung saan ang wikang Filipino ay nakikitang mas mababa kumpara sa Ingles, kung saan mas maraming tao ang mas gustong gamitin ito sa mga akademikong disiplina. Ganoon din ang panlilibak sa punto ng mga taga-Maynila. Naniniwala ako na ang pagkakaroon ng kamalayan sa lipunan at pagpapahalaga sa ating punto ay isa sa mga unang hakbang sa pagbibigay ng higit na halaga sa ating sariling wika.

Jerrold Tarog's much-anticipated 'Quezon' has received funding support from the Film Development Council of the Philippines.
