TV was mostly used for military training during WWII. Toward the war’s end, soldiers doubled as actors as described in this TV review from late spring 1944.

This clipping from the May 1957 issue of Television Digest seems to be DuMont’s last gasp. Besides the fantasy (and likely jibe at Paramount) of buying KTLA, the proposition of a 7 TV / 7 radio station network is interesting. DuMont never had a radio network, and that was one of their pain points. The structure is similar to what Kaiser did a decade later.

These images where shared by a follower who works at a television station. These DuMont racks are still in use today. Maybe it's a minor thing, but it makes me wonder if an existing inventory exists of their entire product range, or if like much of DuMont, their product history exists only in scraps here and there.

Where I learned the output isn’t always worth the reward. Most painful ice cream ever. I think I was 7. My neighbor had one of these and about five of us kids took turns. I think the adults manipulated us for free labor.

This image of a 6” wide DuMont sticker was msg’d to me with the story that it was found in Germany. I remember seeing a 1970s style DuMont branded portable TV from Germany for sale on eBay around eight years ago. The eBay description claimed that DuMont branded TVs sold in Europe until the 70s. Since seeing the sticker, I’ve dug around for more information about DuMont licensing and found that a Canadian company made TVs with the DuMont name in the early 60s. Anyone know any more of the story about later DuMont televisions?

Here's another of my Roku Channels. It's totally free. Roads to Romance contains the nine travelogue films Chevrolet made in the late 1940s to promote family road trips.

WWII was over. It was a new world. Roads to Romance were travelogue films made by Chevrolet to promote the experience of family roads trips. Watch them here just as they were shown in movie theaters in 1949.

This looks to me to be Space Cadet and that’s Jan Merlin sitting on the bottom bunk on the left. It’s a WABD camera and I know the show ran for a season on DuMont, but I figured it would have been syndicated and not filmed at WABD like their flagship Captain Video. Is this Captain Video? Anyone know?

Beautiful. Sent to me by Pyeatt, a back plate of a DuMont television. Perhaps one day long ago, a family dog rested under a backplate like that enjoying the tube’s heat wondering why the humans were in the other side.
