Faces of Haiti: Travel and Lifestyle – Part 1
This has been my most favorite project to work on so far. I will be putting out a 4 part series going over different aspects of my trips to Haiti. I felt that my photos needed some context behind them and wanted to share more of our story. Take a look at Part 1 here! https://mikeg.photography/travel/faces-of-haiti-travel-and-lifestyle-part-1/
If you could please share, it would mean the world to me. 🙏👍
It is best to view on a tablet or laptop. If you are viewing on a phone, flip to horizontal and the photos wont cut off.
Looking forward to sharing more of the story!
Haiti January 2017 Day 4
Day 4 from our January trip.
I went with the veterinarians to a location that we hiked about 3 miles through the country side. Along the way we passed through a sugar cane field and processing plant. Then ended the day playing soccer at the local community center.
The opening shot you can see what most of the houses are like away from the main cities.

Haiti January 2017 Day 3
Day 3 from our January trip.
We helped animals and livestock at 2 more locations for the first half of the day.
Later that afternoon we traveled through the city of Hinche and met with sisters who make foods and drinks like peanut butter, jams, tamarind wine along with other items.
I have a separate post with photos from this day as well here: https://www.facebook.com/MikeGImages/posts/227596841109549
Haiti January 2017 Day 2
Day 2 started with being able to see our surroundings after arriving late the night before. The opening shots show the church/school and the parsonage where we stay.
One of our goals in January was to help neighboring communities with their animals and livestock. We would travel with our 2 veterinarians from Altoona, and 5 locals who they help train. You can see the "road" conditions as we venture off the highway.
The first stop was near another local school, and the second was by a small convenience store. (A small shack in the woods along the dirt road.)
