The journey to motherhood means getting our bodies ready for the big day. Here are 4 birth ball exercises I’m incorporating into my routine to help prepare for labor. Strengthening, stretching, and staying active! 🤰🏻
If you want to start these- please try only after 32nd week of your pregnancy.
1) Bouncing on the Ball: With each gentle bounce, there’s a subtle motion that encourages the baby to settle downwards into the pelvis. It also encourages better circulation in the lower body. Improved circulation helps reduce swelling, a common concern during pregnancy.
2) Back and Forth on the Ball: Each forward and backward tilt is like a gentle invitation, encouraging the baby to move deeper into the pelvic region, potentially leading to a more efficient labor. This movement also helps align the spine, offering relief and promoting better posture thus reducing back pain.
3) Hip Circles on the Ball: Making circles with my hips isn’t just for flexibility. This continuous rotation helps widen and stretch the pelvis, offering more space for the baby to descend. It’s all about making that passage smoother and more accommodating. Additionally, this exercise aids in enhancing joint mobility and can reduce the aches commonly felt in the hips during the latter stages of pregnancy.
4) Side Sways on the Ball: Firstly, it helps in gently stretching the inner thighs and pelvic muscles. Secondly, it’s believed to encourage the baby to adjust its position, potentially leading to a head-down position, which is optimal for birth.
These exercises aren’t just routines; they’re a conscious effort to ensure that both my baby and I have the smoothest journey possible. For those on a similar path, understanding the ‘why’ behind each move can truly empower our practice. Let’s continue to support and learn from one another!
