Why is someone with active probation on weapons convictions living in Minneapolis Public Housing Authority?

UPDATE on Friday's Brooklyn Park armed robbery and assault of a female. Suspects fled in a vehicle to Maple Grove / Champlin.

All three charged with 1st degree aggravated robbery. Taylor is additionally charged with felony fleeing as the driver of the vehicle.

The victim was at Target with her kids, when a black male began to follow her, and he struck her in the head from behind. He tried to take her pursue and began kicking and punching her while she was on the ground along with the two other suspects.

During the assault, victim was kicked, punched, and dragged across the asphalt.

While talking with the victim, officers noticed several bruises and cuts on the victim. Victim told officers when she was trying to get up, she looked and saw one of the Defendant's point a gun at her at which point, she let go of her purse.

Victim said that her kids were present when she was being assaulted. Victim told officers that in addition to her purse, Defendants stole about $900, her house keys, a credit card holder and Target bags with about $100 worth of items.

All three are still in custody.

Minneapolis - Report of three BM in masks who approached Royal Cigar in Dinkytown near the UMN asking about surveillance.
They left in a black SUV.
This is the site of the triple shooting over the weekend that left two dead and one injured.

Police arrived and said the back window had been removed.

It was unclear if the suspect was located, but it didn't sounds like it.

UPDATE from Minneapolis police on the overnight Dinkytown shooting:

Two dead and one injured in early morning shooting.

December 3, 2023 (Minneapolis) At approximately 2:15 a.m., officers from the 2nd Precinct responded to the report of a shooting at 403 14th Av SE. Officers identified two males in their 20s with fatal gunshot wounds. Officers attempted life-saving efforts. Despite all life-saving efforts, both males died at the scene. A third male, also in his 20’s, was transported to HCMC with at least one apparent non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Preliminary information indicates that an altercation between two groups of customers escalated to gunfire inside a store. The injured male transported to the hospital was one of three employees inside the store. MPD believes that the two deceased males and the injured employee are not University of Minnesota students.

Officers secured the scene and canvassed the area.

Forensic scientists from the Minneapolis Police Forensic Division responded to process the scene and collect evidence. Minneapolis Homicide Investigators began their investigation.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the name of the deceased along with the cause and manner of their death.

Suspects broke into 7xx 5th St SE last week. Police refused to book them because although the male forcibly pried the door open, he hadn't yet stolen anything.

Minneapolis car prowlers captured on video in U of M off-campus housing area

Police were able to detain one of the suspects who reportedly fell off of his bicycle while the other suspect was able to escape.

Submitted: A vehicle was stolen from Richfield and was subsequently recovered by Minneapolis police and returned to the owner. The vehicle contained the tools and items below, which do not belong to the vehicle owner.
So, after the multitude of contractor robberies and thefts in Minneapolis we've been reporting for weeks, police aren't even inventorying and holding obviously stolen merch found in a stolen vehicle.

Probation for Michael Eugene Detroy Alexander, 05/17/2002, after being charged with attempted murder last year for shooting his sister's boyfriend in the face with a shotgun while he slept in NE Minneapolis. The victim was sleeping with Alexander's sister and their infant child just feet away when the shooting occurred at 23xx Jefferson St NE, apt bldg.

Under a plea deal, Alexander pled guilty to 1st degree assault-great bodily harm, and the attempted murder charge was dismissed.

Judge Jay Quam stayed the 8.5 year sentence and instead placed Alexander on probation for 5 years.
