Today's Story :~

Once there was a Washer-man (a man who washes others clothes for hire) who was raising two donkeys. One he called Donkey-A and the other Donkey-B.

Donkey-A felt he was more energetic and could do better than the other donkey. He always tried to get the Washer-man’s attention by taking more of the load and walking as fast as he could in front of him.

Donkey-B was just a normal donkey. He tried as hard as he could, but he couldn’t carry as much as Donkey-A or impress the Washer-man by walking in front of him.

After a period of time the Washer-man began to put pressure on Donkey-B. But Donkey-B couldn’t meet his expectations. Eventually Donkey-B started getting punished.

As a result of the collapse, Donkey-A felt like he was on top of the world, having proved his superior skills and abilities. But now he also had to carry Donkey-B’s load.

For a short time Donkey-A was able to carry both loads, but he eventually became fatigued and weak. The Washer-man had no compassion on this once superior, but now tired donkey. He yelled and demanded more, but as hard as this donkey tried, he couldn’t come close to satisfying his demands.

Finally the day came when the Washer-man was tired of this fatigued and no good donkey. He killed him and went searching for some other donkeys.

*Debrief*

Worrying more about your own performance, taking all the credit and trying to do more than you are capable of doing eventually comes back and bites you one way or another. Be a team player!

As a leaders, you want a team full of superstars, but giving all the work to the superstar(s) eventually burns them out and creates low morale amongst the team.

"Remember A Very Small Man Can Cast A Very Large Shadow"

Today's Story :~

Do you have this quality?

Three disciples were graduating from their Gurukul after 25 years of Brahmcharyashram. They were getting back to their lives upon completing their education. Guru told them that one of their exams was pending, which he would take as they leave the school. Disciples were waiting for this exam till the final day of departure, but Guru did not take any exam. The disciples thought that Guru must have changed his plans or would have forgotten about it.

The sun was setting. The disciples were all set to leave the Gurukul to go to their respective homes. As they walked a couple of miles from the Gurukul on the narrow road with bushes around, they found thorny branches and gorse lying in the middle of their path. One disciple jumped over the gorse, while the other made way from the side and moved ahead.

The third disciple picked up those thorny twigs and threw them over the bushes to clean the road. To his surprise, their Guru was hiding behind the bushes. He appeared and told the third disciple that only he had cleared the exam and had truly graduated from the Gurukul. He asked the other two who had gone ahead to come back, since they had more work to put into themselves.

Such small, insignificant gestures reveal the love, mercy and compassion within us and builds our friendly and gentle persona.

*Debrief*

As we know, what goes around comes around….better to let goodness flow, friendship and love flow, because the more we spread such positive sentiments, the more we will receive them.

When an eagle builds it's nest, it collects thorny branches and uses them as a foundation for the nest. It then collects soft feathers to cover the thorns. When the baby eagles are old enough to fly but too relaxed because of the comfort of the nest, the mother eagle removes the feathers so that the baby's can feel the pain of the pricking thorns and know that its time to leave the nest and fly on their own.

*Debrief*

When your present situation doesn't seem fulfilling and your instincts direct you to rise beyond your comfort zone, it’s just an indication from the universe to tell you to move you to a better place.

The purpose is not to harm you, but to inform you that it's time to fly to higher ground.

Today's Story

If you are afraid to step out of your comfort zone and begin a new journey, then this story is for you.

Once there was a king who received a gift of two magnificent falcons. They were peregrine falcons, the most beautiful birds he had ever seen. He gave the precious birds to his head falconer to be trained.

Months passed, and one day the head falconer informed the king that though one of the falcons was flying majestically, soaring high in the sky, the other bird had not moved from its branch since the day it had arrived.

The king summoned healers and sorcerers from all the land to tend to the falcon, but no one could make the bird fly, So the next day, the king saw through the palace window that the bird had still not moved from its perch. Having tried everything else, the king thought to himself, “May be I need someone more familiar with the countryside to understand the nature of this problem.” So he cried out to his court, “Go and get a farmer.”

In the morning, the king was thrilled to see the falcon soaring high above the palace gardens. He said to his court, “Bring me the doer of this miracle.”

The court quickly located the farmer, who came and stood before the king. The king asked him, “How did you make the falcon fly?”

With his head bowed, the farmer said to the king, “It was very easy, your highness. I simply cut the branch where the bird was sitting.”

Summer :~ We are all made to fly — to realize our incredible potential as human beings. But at times, we sit on our branches, clinging to the things that are familiar to us.The possibilities are endless, but for most of us, they remain undiscovered. We conform to the familiar, the comfortable, and the mundane. So for the most part, our lives are mediocre instead of exciting, thrilling and fulfilling. Let us learn to destroy the branch of fear we cling to and free ourselves to the glory of flight.
