No weights — Just steak.

Six months in to a little experiment and at almost 42, I am in the best shape of my life!

No gym membership. I play around with some resistance bands at home for 10min a day. Push-ups / pull ups few times a week. Simple stuff.

I just eat meat, mainly red, eggs, and some dairy. AKA… a carnivore diet.

One of the craziest fad diets going around. Heard that Crohn’s and autoimmune folks are thriving on it. So I gave it a go.

I feel amazing - strong, youthful, focussed, energetic all day. No bloating, no Crohn’s gut pain, no gas, no sugar cravings. Did I mention energy? Still have some random joint swelling, so I think I might try kicking dairy all together and see what happens.

So what about veggies and fruit? Like vitamins and stuff? Fibre? Cholesterol? Cancer?? And how can you possibly afford to just eat meat??

And why???

I have quite a bit to share on this. Might create a group for those interested.

Will I eat carnivore forever? Prob not.

Am I thinking of stopping any time soon? No way!

Today’s ‘Scope Report...
Routine inspection but, It’s not what I was hoping for. 😔
They found 2 small ulcers, an inflammatory polyp and a section of scarring that couldn't be passed with a paediatric scope 😬
In short - a reoccurrence of Crohn's Disease with stricturing.

This is all part of the journey, and I'm grateful to be able to share the ups and the downs.

I've had a great run for so many years, now is just a timely wake-up call that health is everything and I need to shift up to the highest gear.

Thanks for following my journey. We will heal together.

Ok what? There’s 3 things I gotta say about this:
1. To everyone who ever thought I was slow to respond or off in fairyland, I give you the study in my defense! Hmmm I could really leverage this. Luckily they still let me drive.
2. This is great insight into the gut-brain connection. They reckon the amount of communication going between your gut and your brain is about 4 to 1. Meaning the gut is doing 80% of the “talking” between the two organs. So what’s really controlling what?
3. This explains my brain fade in my upcoming podcast episode with fellow Crohnnie Nathan Ohlson, which I won’t edit out, for the sake of real and to demonstrate what challenges myself and others deal with with this and other health conditions.
4. (I know I said 3 but this is worth it) Be kind and compassionate to yourself and others today. The f you’re dealing with stuff behind closed doors, chances are they are too!

Say "yes" to now. Whatever this present moment has brought you. Make friends with it. Why? Because the present is all you ever have.

What you don’t like about this present moment is not the suffering, but you create the suffering for yourself by rejecting what is. Reality. Wishing it to be different than what it is. That’s pain of your own making.

Now in a traffic jam, I can do that. It’s kinda no one’s fault. There’s nothing you can do about it. If you’re going to be late, well you’re going to be late. But even when experiencing that little rub, the “man, this sucks, I hate traffic”, the unwanted but reasonably inconsequencial, you can use that as practice. Instead of begrudgingly accepting the traffic jam as happening and out of your control, say yes to it. Say thank you, even. Take in a few deep breaths and make friends with what’s happening.

And if you can say yes to that, what else can you say yes to?

What about the harder challenges of life? The bigger trials and injustices we face that we flat out want to reject and with good reason. Loss. Betrayal. Injustice. Crisis. Sickness. Physical or emotional pain. NO!! But wait… it is here and you are here. Can you say yes, instead of no? Can you break the cycle of hostility and angst toward your present reality? Can you turn and face the monster and reach out a hand?

It’s hard, I know. But not because it takes great effort, but because it takes great surrender. Not clenched fists, but open arms.

Eckhart Tolle asks, “can I be the space for this” and the answer is, yes. Because YOU ARE THE SPACE for this. This is your life. In making friends with the present, “you become who you already are” and break the cycle of suffering in your life.

Well this was something else. Breathing. Nobody ever taught us how to do it, it just happened. Right? Nothing to teach here. But I’m 38 and today I learnt for the first time a pretty simple breathing exercise that flipping shocked me right out of my brain! I think that’s a song. My body is still tingling 12 hours after this 30 min exercise. Anxiety and chest tightness left me for the first time in ages. Just through breathing. I experienced a euphoric state of crazy aliveness, flow and “no mind”. Hard to explain. Felt like i tripped the system and unplugged from the matrix for a timeless moment, like I left my body. By breathing. Who knew? This all probably sounds weird and trivial but the shift was significant, not to mention the other health benefits of the on the immune system that have been proven to produce predictable positive outcomes for health and metal resilience. I can’t wait to talk about my experience and hear the science from my coach from when I interview him on the podcast. Look out for that one. I really think as more people discover this practice we will realize the great blessing and miracle we are walking around in and unlock its potential to heal.
