A video has emerged capturing the moment Bauchi State police deployed tear gas to quell a protest by Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University students.
The demonstration stemmed from the tragic killing of Joseph Agabaidu, a 500-level Geology student, who was fatally stabbed by armed robbers on Tuesday.
Earlier reports by PUNCH Online revealed that Agabaidu was attacked around 7 pm on Tuesday while en route to his lodge at the Yelwan Tudu Market in the Yelwa area of Bauchi state.
Unfortunately, he succumbed to the injuries sustained during the assault and passed away on Sunday, December 3.

Today, Friday, October 13, Afrobeat sensation Ayodeji Balogun, famously known as Wizkid, lays his beloved mother to rest. In touching videos circulating on social media, the singer is seen alongside family members, singing worship songs during the church service for his mother's farewell, held at Victoria Island, Lagos.
As reported by The PUNCH, Wizkid's mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. Prior to today's funeral, a candlelight procession was held in her honor on Wednesday, October 11, and a wake-keep with tribute service took place on Thursday, October 12, in Lagos.
A near-fatal incident unfolded in Ogun State's Ifo Local Government Area as a building in the Old Bank area collapsed, narrowly sparing a man named Seun from a tragic fate.
Although no fatalities occurred, the collapsing structure's stairs pinned Seun down, leading to hours of entrapment until vigilant witnesses came to his aid. According to an eyewitness account, the building had been in a state of disrepair for an extended period before it finally gave way around 5:20 p.m.
A brief video clip shared with our correspondent captured residents banding together to extricate the victim from the debris. As they carefully pulled him from what appeared to be a tight space, they urgently requested water to revive the seemingly unconscious man.
Addressing the incident, Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, verified the occurrence and noted that the victim was currently undergoing treatment.

Sunday Igboho Thanks Obasanjo, Soyinka, and Others Post Release
Yoruba Nation activist, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, commonly known as Sunday Igboho, has been released by the Beninese government after a two-year legal ordeal.
In a statement on his Instagram, titled "My Release in Benin Republic," Igboho expressed gratitude to prominent figures including former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, Professor Banji Akintoye, Ayo Adebanjo, and various traditional leaders for their roles in securing his freedom.
Igboho's arrest took place on July 19, 2021, at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Benin, while en route to Germany.
This followed his escape from Nigeria after an armed raid on his residence in Ibadan, Oyo State, by the Department of State Service (DSS), who accused him of arms possession.
Igboho extended thanks to a wide range of individuals and groups, including President Talon of Benin Republic, religious leaders, royal figures, and various organizations that supported him during this challenging period. He emphasized the need for continued support in the pursuit of the Yoruba nation's cause.
