Here is a nugget from a very popular marketing book, Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller, “Common question all audiences are asking themselves is, “Can this brand get me what I want?” Are they trustworthy? Are they going to follow through. Having empathy, everyone wants to be seen heard and understood. Can you do that with your brand? And then he talks about something that I think I've often in the past missed the mark on which is people want to see their brands as an equal and not as an authority. Sometimes I look at, you know, I guess it's can get misconstrued by like a guide someone that's helping you along the way. People don't want to be told what to do along the way they want to be helped. They want to feel supported, feel like they have resources and someone that can answer the questions as they're going through something that's challenging. So it's nice to have a guide that's already been there. “The work that I do on a day-to-day is essentially help companies make more money. And the way I do that is through research, through analytics, through user experience, through driving more traffic to a website and that's ultimately the goal. People want more traffic to a website or they want more conversion. So that's my day to day. How I got into this stuff and we can get little bit more in detail on methodologies and tactics to drive more traffic or convert more traffic… The way that I got into this work is by going to you know going to school, going to college. An awesome throwback to being joined by Giselle Waters (she/her) recorded almost a year ago about why values should be at the forefront of your business. Here is an awesome quote from the recording, “86% of potential customers in America are looking for businesses who are doing more than just making money. They believe they have to do social good as well. There is also a 1.2 trillion dollar opportunity for businesses who make their sustainability credentials clear. It's not even about necessarily like setting an unrealistic goal for yourself. It's really about just showing that your values aligned with the values of your customers, People obviously gravitate towards people that they relate to and so making sure that your business is following through on that is important. I think especially for small businesses we tend to see really humble business owners who don't want to like kind of talk too much about themselves or they feel like it's sort of braggadocious to talk about the impact that they're making, but that's a really important information for your customers to have and not being afraid to connect those values back to your marketing is really important.” Tune into the full episode anywhere you get your podcasts!!

Yeah, most of the time I try to take my time. And of course, I do a lot of research before I go. So, typically I will read a lot about the city or the country before I travel there to be informed and to have a certain level of expectations. I always try to not inform myself too much because I still want to go with the flow and really get inspired on my own and I think nowadays is kind of hard with all the Instagram and blogs and everything out there. If you really want to do some research you find a lot of things online. And of course I'm doing the same. "Your audience will let you know what is likes like you said, what is resonating with them. But they're letting you know also when you're coming across most authentically when they sense that's most you and that matters too. They're letting you know that they can tell if you're trying to fake it or you’re trying to be somebody you're not. And that's the kind of nuances that you get and figure out over time, but your analytics tell you. They're not only interested in that information but the way that you said it or the way that you wrote it and the way that your voice was in it. Is what they're telling you was genuine to them."
