Flashback to May 2021 - Where has the time gone?
My guest this week on The David Cassidy Connections podcast is musician and author, and my dear friend Hal Eisenberg .
Hal and his Beach Boys Tribute band opened for David in Atlanta in 2003, where he observed close up the impact of being a teenage idol appeared to have on David. He shares his thoughts on how he was labelled, offers an analysis on the price of fame and explains why David’s album The Higher They Climb needs to be recognised more as a template for what he was capable of achieving musically.
“If you don’t know of his music outside of I Think I Love You, you really do need to go deeper into his catalogue – You will say ‘I had no idea’. He was a lot more than the façade that a lot of people saw…..musicians regarded him as a very talented musician,” Hal told me.
He offers his analysis of the music industry today, how Felix Cavaliere and Eric Carmen influenced his career and why he is looking forward to getting back on stage this summer with Brotherhood, his tribute band to the Doobie Brothers.
Available on all major podcasting listening platforms including Apple, Google and Spotify.

Everyone will have someone in their life who is a fan of David Cassidy so I hope no one minds me making a gift suggestion if you are stuck for ideas for Christmas, New Year or birthday.
Christmas was always a special time for me as a teenager knowing inside the bolster pillowcase alongside a variety box of chocolates and oranges there would be an LP, annual, jigsaw or other goodies about David. And of course The Partridge Family Christmas Card album would be played endlessly, the card on the cover being given pride of place among those from family and friends.
This has been a difficult year for all of us but you could bring considerable sunshine into the life of someone you love who is a fan of David with Cherish.
These first-hand accounts given to me in one-to-one conversations or sent by fans around the world capture his historical legacy; my interviews with celebrity fans and people who worked with him in the recording studio, on stage, in television; broadcasters, journalists and actors remember him with respect and adoration.
I would like to thank everyone who has bought Cherish this year who have told me why the emotional memories and stunning previously unseen images mean so much. I know for many, Cherish has helped with the grieving process.
Thank you all for your continued support and sending me your photographs for inclusion, your tributes, embracing Cherish which is an award-winning finalist in the American Book Fest Best Book Awards, an accolade which is really special.
And all episodes in the podcast series The David Cassidy Connections are available wherever you get your podcasts from.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.

My dear friend Roby Di Stefano has put his own spin on the Charles & Eddie song, Would I Lie To You. The arrangement on this is exceptional. Roby, who has been a guest on my podcast, does not have English as his first language, but has been influenced on his music by David Cassidy and it is clear here to note that inspiration.

Today on what would have been David's 73rd birthday, we revisit one of our most popular episodes, when guest West Orange Town historian Joseph Fagan was my guest in 2020.
Located less than 15 miles from Manhattan, West Orange offers a rich history. The first settlers, who can be traced as part of David's family tree, landed in 1666 at what is now Newark Bay. Joseph tells the story.
His own whose family roots go back more than 150 years in the town, and he gives a tour of the places where David would have played as a young boy, shares photographs of David’s mother, Evelyn, when she was at school which he has uncovered, tells the story of the first settlers and the 9/11 Memorial at Eagle Rock which looks across to the New York skyline.
West Orange is where David spent his formative years and years later co-wrote with Kim Carnes and Dave Ellingson, Can’t Go Home Again where David brought the musical changes.
Episodes can be found on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts. Spotify and all major listening platforms for laptop and digital devices.
You can view the images Joseph speaks about on a slideshow on The David Cassidy Connections Podcast YouTube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_NLsMHsyoM
