Any Tech CEOs want to fight me in the octagon, since Zuck is injured 🤣.
🥋
After dealing with 4+ years of excruciating pain due to my back injury, I’m finally on the up and up thanks to my PT.
🥋
What got me through it was relating to my childhood idol Bruce Lee, and remembering watching “Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story” where he nearly handicapped himself due to a back injury like I did (I even had to buy an inversion table).
🥋
To recover from such a traumatic injury required tremendous amount of mental and emotional strengths, plus amazing PTs you can trust.
🥋
As I slowly get stronger, I think it’s time to up-level my Calisthenics. I am super grateful to have met a community of athletes that took me in and are inspiring me to get better everyday 🙏.
🥋
Remember to take care of your mind and body (they are interconnected), as health is really your true wealth.

Rejections Are Redirections (How It’s Going vs. How It Started)
🧭
Sometimes setbacks are just opportunities to reinvent yourself. You just have to have enough faith in the Universe and let things run its course.
🧭
You need to trust yourself enough to know that you’ll be able to find your way back to exactly where you were meant to be.
🧭
Though you definitely still need to hustle for your dreams. You can’t just sit back and pray that the universe will do all the work for you. But once you’ve put in your best effort, then you just have to let go and trust the process.
🧭
The photos are from when I was laid off for the very first time back in 2014, then decided to sell everything I owned (for the second time, story of the first time on another day) and moved to New York City.

With cost of food and gas skyrocketing in the last couple of years due to inflation, I wanted to create this short video to hopefully help you ease the pain a bit.

I also wanted to share some initial thoughts after going through the process of producing my first video:

Starting a YouTube channel is definitely not for the faint of heart. You really have to want it as it requires you to wear so many different hats. When you watch other creators spit out videos day after day, you start to think to yourself, "Oh, this looks easy, I can do it too!" But what you don't see is the hours of research, scripting, filming, looking for B-rolls, talking to the camera over and over again, late night editing, and then pushing it out into the YouTube-verse hoping it will gain some traction in the midst of all the other 3.7 million videos that gets uploaded every day.

Here are some of the other challenges I faced along the way:

Time: With a full time job, I haven't really had to time go through the full process from scripting, filming, editing to publishing. Even with being laid off, I still have to balance my time between job hunting, interviewing, filming, and resting. I think once I go through the process a few more times, I'll be able to find a more efficient flow that allows me to still have a life.

On Camera Skills: With English being my second language, writing and public speaking have never been my strong suit. And talking to a camera without anyone on the other end isn't exactly natural either. Since embarking on this journey, I have tried several different ways of filming videos. The first was writing out full scripts and reading them off a teleprompter, but it felt very forced and robotic. With this video I basically just winged it, hence the choppiness and multiple cuts. What I've found whenever I don't script my videos is I tend to ramble and get off topic. So for the next video, I will try scripting it again. But instead of reading it verbatim, I will try and summarize each paragraph by memory. Let's see how that goes.

Perfectionism: Half of the battle of publishing your first YouTube video is the fear of judgement. It has been a mental challenge for me to get over the fear of being publicly ridiculed. If you've ever looked through the comments section of some of the top performing YouTubers, you'll see just how brutal the internet trolls can be. Throughout the making of this video, I had to constantly remind myself of 'progress not perfection'. I know there are probably countless improvements I could've made to this video, but for now, it's 'good enough'.

With that said, please like, subscribe, and let me know if you found the video helpful. I am hoping the quality will get better as I get better at... everything.
