Happy Founder's Day to all my Sisters! Recently, I had the honor of co-chairing a local event organized by the Sigma Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
A group of African-American Female Healthcare Providers joined forces to serve as mentors for local high school students interested in stem-related fields.
It wasn't until I was in my mid-twenties that I encountered a physician who shared my background. However, these young women had the opportunity to meet not just one but multiple doctors and other significant professionals in healthcare who resembled them!
The significance of representation cannot be overstated!
Giving back to the community is essential!
Empowered women empower girls!

As a pediatrician, I encounter many pr***en and teen girls who feel lost in a world of expectations, trying to fit into molds that don't feel like they belong.
Sometimes, it's like searching for a missing puzzle piece. But maybe it's because we forget our true identity isn't found in trends or likes—it's in God's design for us.
When we focus more on being who God made us to be, the pieces start falling into place.
I wish I knew then what I know now! Our girls deserve knowledge that will set them on a firm foundation! So, when life gets shaky, they have a solid foundation that will not fold under the pressures of life!
That's why Puberty, Power, and Purpose matters! This program is more than just a Puberty talk! Much more!

First, we were put here for a purpose uniquely designed for us by the Lord. We are blessed to be a blessing to others through our purpose and callings.
Second, we have a generation that is currently experiencing a huge identity crisis with increasing mental health diagnoses and su***de.
Third, I don't claim to have all the answers for it. But I’ve designed PillowTalk For Girls to help sound the alarm and provide knowledge to help our babies soar. I was once one of these girls, and now, I’m bold enough to embrace who God created me to be and post a photo in a green dress and pink boots, with my white coat draped on my shoulder! 😬💪🏾🙌🏽
