Happy fourth of July! BttM hopes that you are enjoying this patriotic weekend surrounded by family & friends - and not starving alone in an abandoned bus in Alaska.

That’s right! We covered “INTO THE WILD” - Sean Penn’s film all about a guy who went off into the woods with a vague dream of total isolation and “truth” - only to die of exposure.

Penn’s U2 music video-esque approach to the material didn’t win us over, but we had a busload of fun discussing this overlong, overstuffed movie.

PLEASE consider giving us a written 5-star review on Apple podcasts, and tell a friend about a great podcast they can listen to on the drive home!

The boys are together at last! After over a year of podcasting apart, Nat and Ben finally got to record in the same room. The results were wild, and not just because of the movie they were covering. Things are a little less formal this week, so just sit back and enjoy this freewheeling discussion ab...

2007: The year of the sequel. Dozens of sequels came out, but three of them (that all happened to be "part three" of their franchises) were the biggest of the year: the bombastic "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End", the lackadaisical "Shrek The Third", and the villain-stuffed tonal question mark "Spider-Man 3".

Nat and Ben dive into this "THREEQUEL SPECTACULAR" with a special guest, writer Gabirel Laks (). This trio compares and contrasts these three threelquels - does Spider-Man 3 work at all? Is Captain Jack Sparrow over the hill by part III? How many corporate partnerships did "Shrek The Third" take part in?

Superlative awards are given: "Worst new character", "Worst Script", "Moment that makes you harken back to the glory days of the franchise", and more.

It all ends in a presidential style "Spider-Man 3" debate between Gabriel and Ben.

Wingardium Levisosa!

This week, we’re doing a deep dive in the wizarding world with a discussion of “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” - the fifth Harry Potter movie released during the pinnacle of HP popularity in 2007.

We’re joined by the talented actor/writer/comedian/Potter aficionado Jessie Cannizzaro.

Conversation topics include: our initial memories of being introduced to the Potter franchise, the memorably evil Delores Umbridge, and whether the plot of OotP reminds us of a certain conspiracy that has gone mainstream.

Bonjour! Our new podcast episode is a discussion of one of the greatest animated films ever cooked: “Ratatouille”. Our special guest is professional chef Gen Sato, the host of .ny and lover of fine film.

We get into the history of Ratatouille’s production, the best films of director Brad Bird, Nat’s humiliating stories from working as Gen’s underling in a kitchen, Ben’s secret family recipes, and beaucoup plus… That’s French for “much more”… Fancy eh? Non?… Oh non, je me suis ridiculisé.

Dane Cook being cringy, Jessica Alba faceplanting and Dan Fogler being the worst character ever is a truly rotten cinematic package. May God have mercy on our souls.

Our episode on “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer” is live! We talk about the euro-ness of the movie, the unique scent montages, the sad fact that Alan Rickman’s is utterly wasted in the movie, and MUCH more.

We also have special guest Denise Liriano, a fine fragrance evaluator at Maan, a perfume company, who gives her unique perspective on the film (a perfumer’s point of view!).

February 23rd, 1990 - “Mountains of the Moon” is a forgotten 1990 historical biopic featuring Ian Glenn (AKA Jorah Mormont from “Game of Thrones”). It began in film school, where a fledgling editor named Nat and wannabe critic named Ben forged a lifelong friendship debating the merits of the Oscars, the artificiality of Jurassic Park, and whether There Will Be Blood should have beaten No Country for Old Men for the Best Picture statue.

It continues a decade later with Back to the Movies, a new podcast where Nat and Ben reunite to explore the great years in cinema history. Join them for deep dives into the good, the bad, the overrated, and the unjustly forgotten films that made those years what they were.

Their odyssey begins with 1990 (which just so happens to be the year Nat and Ben were born). Do the films hold up? Was it a great year for cinema? Will our heroes survive the existential terror of turning 30? The only way to find out is to go... Back to the Movies!
