Final short film for Dabas aizsardzības pārvalde. North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve is one of the largest protected natural areas in Latvia. It is located in the North Vidzeme Region, where fields are interspersed with vast forests. It covers almost 6% of the territory of Latvia.

In the north-west of Latvia, at the very northern tip of Kurzeme Region, is the smallest of Latvia's four National Parks – Slītere National Park. This national park is also called – an open–air museum of geological history of the Baltic Sea.

There are raised bogs dotted with countless small lakes, mysterious wet deciduous forests, wide floodplain meadows with semi–feral horses and cows, lagoon lakes rich in waterbirds, meandering rivers and the sea coast.
