were life saving during .downwind.challenge . About 4 to 7 hours a day of kitesurfing would be impossible without proper sunglasses. I’m so glad I had mine. Almost invisible and light with good sunlight protection 🤓

Every time I go to Dakhla, for me it’s a moment of pure life. The moment when you feel everything on the fingertips. Every moment is unique and life changing.

This time I went to Dakhla with ambitious target - to do 500 km downwind. All summer before was pretty busy and I was barely finding time for kitesurfing and training. I did all I could and was hoping it would be enough.

Luckily I had wide experience in camping so the life in desert in the middle of nowhere didn’t shock me too much.

First day of the downwind was pretty tough for me even tho it wasn’t the longest distance. Probably because I forgot my water and energy gels in a rush.
But since second day I started to enjoy downwind a lot. Time on the water was the best moment of downwind for me. I was alone with my thoughts. Small dot in the middle of rough Atlantic Ocean.

Day 4 was the hardest day. We went upwind about 80 km with no break. I was too scared to stop and take a break. Waves were huge and terrifying. This day I will remember for a long time because I was sincerely thinking that gonna die that day. All 80 km it was massive rock instead of the beach and any mistake would cost me my life. I was praying to not lose my board and after 4,5 hours fell onto the shore exhausted.

This downwind was a real challenge and I’m happy I was able to accomplish it alive.

Enjoining my life in Lisbon a lot. It’s exactly the moment when you don’t want to travel because you already live in the best place. It’s sunny, warm and windy.

Tarifa tips🪁🏝️ if you guys gonna travel to Tarifa, my tips gonna be useful for you.

First of all book a car. Tarifa city is a small but there are some spots like Valdevaqueros and some restaurants which you can reach only by car.

We booked airbnb kite house so we had water to wash our wet suits and garage to storage our kites. It was super useful.

In Tarifa there are mainly 2 directions of the wind (Levante and Poniente) and I shared spots in a post last week. But in a worst case if you don’t have a car you can kite right in a city.

Get all your kites with you. During 10 days we had wind for my 13,5 and 5 meters.

Take your sweater and bikini. Weather changes so quickly in Tarifa. I thought it would be warm on May but no. And I didn’t take enough warm clothes. As a result I was always freezing 🥶

Take a wetsuit. I was riding in a wetsuit 4/3 and it was just ok for the Atlantic water in May.

Take your passport with you. There is a ferry to Morocco every 2 hours. You can spend one day in Tangier. It’s amazing idea for a day off.

Locations in Tarifa to do kitesurfing. Save them for the future travels.

When you have the Poniente (Poniente is a warm and dry westerly or northwesterly wind blowing in the Straits of Gibraltar and along the coasts of the north-western Mediterranean) the best locations to kite are:

🏝️Playa de Los Lances
🏝️Valdevaqueros

When you have the Levante wind (Levante is a warm, east to northeast wind that flows from the Alboran Channel and is funneled through the Strait of Gibraltar):

🏝️ Balneario Beach (only if you able to jump over 15 meters and super confident in yourself)
🏝️ Los Caños de Meca
