LDEA IN NIMBA ARREST A LIBERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE OFFICER WITH KUSH

Date: February 15, 2024.


River Gee County assigned Immigration officer with rank of Chief Of Operation ( OPS ) at the Border Patrol Unit ( BPU ) has been arrested with huge quantity of popular narcotic substance KUSH in Tappita City, lower Nimba County.

The L I S officer identified as Cyrus David, Age 38, was picked up on Tuesday, February 5, 2024 by the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency LDEA assigned in the city with a narcotic drugs confirmed to be KUSH quantity of 70.54 gram.

According to our reporter, officer David who claims to be a long term Liberia immigration service officer assigned in River Gee County was arrested in the central street of Tappita City lower Nimba County transacting with customers as usual Something that raised the public eyes bride of seeing a state security being involved with the commercialization of illegal substances in the country.

Meanwhile, officer David was turned over to the LDEA head office in Ganta City and was later forwarded to the County circuit court for further investigation.

Plenary of the House of Representatives Give authorization to President Joseph Boakai to spend $ 41 Million, 300 Thousand United States dollars to cover government's operations for the month of February 2024

The House of Representatives has finally endorsed a report from its Joint Committee on Ways, Means and Finance and Public Accounts and Expenditure giving authorization to the executive to spend $ 41 Million, 300 Thousand United States dollars to cover government's operations for the month of February 2024.

This follows hours of intense deliberation among members of the HoR during Tuesday’s sitting up Capitol Hill.

Our legislative reporter at the House of Representatives said 38 lawmakers voted for the passage of the budget, two lawmakers abstained from the voting process, while Nimba County electoral district #7 Representative Musa Bility voted against the passage of the country’s fiscal instrument.

Recently, President Joseph Boakai submitted a communication to the plenary of the House of Representatives requesting authorization to spend a sum of US$41,300,000.00 to cover government operations for the month of February 2024.

In response to the President's communication, the Joint Committee promptly convened on Saturday, February 17, 2024, and deliberated on the necessary actions to be taken.

The Joint Committee's crucial task was to review the requested amount of funding; ensuring it realistically aligns with the government's operational needs within the specified timeframe.

The President of the Republic of Liberia, His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has nominated additional officials to positions in government affecting the Liberia National Police (LNP), Ministry of Post & Telecommunication (MPT), the Ministry of Mines & Energy (MME), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the Ministry of Transport (MOT), the Ministry of Justice (MOJ), the Ministry of Labor (MOL), the Liberia Business Registry (LBR), the Liberia Civil Aviation Authority (LCAA), the National Security Agency (NSA), the Civil Service Agency (CSA), the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL), and the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA)

Defense Minister Prince C. Johnson III, resigns amid AFL wives’ protest action.

In a swift but decisive move, former AFL Chief of Staff and recently confirmed Minister of National Defense, Prince C. Johnson III, had resigned his post.

In his resignation letter, he cited national security concerns amid the sustained and well coordinated protest action by wives of soldiers of the Liberian Army.
The protesting women blocked major road corridors including the route to the nation’s only international airport, leading thousands stranded. They are demanding benefits and welfare of their husbands.

According to an Executive Mansion statement, President Boakai has accepted Rtd. Maj. Gen. Johnson’s resignation.
The Liberian leader also called on the military to ensure those protesting remove themselves, so as to allow the Liberian government settle their grievances.

The resigned Minister only served under a week in his post. He previously served as COS of the Armed Forces for six years.
