June 5, 2024 - Following thorough screening and validation of former Liberian refugees, the Liberia Refugees Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) regrets to inform local, international partners and the public that the information that was provided by its Executive Director Hon. Patrick Worzie at the May 28, 2024 MICAT Press Conference was incorrect.

The LRRRC says its Executive Director, Hon. Worzie was misinformed by the statisticians.

The screening of former Liberian refugees established that only an average number of the returnees were on drugs. Details of the actual numbers of those on drugs will be disclosed subsequently.

The LRRRC hereby apologized for the misinformation that was provided to the public on the percentage released at the government's National Platform.

The LRRRC as the government leading agency responsible for repatriation reaffirmed its commitment to providing the public with accurate information surrounding the repatriation process.

Henceforth, the commission has taken serious administrative actions on staff involved.

The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) announces with deep regret the loss of its former Deputy Governor, Mr. Charles E. Sirleaf.

Mr. Sirleaf died in Accra, Ghana on Monday, June 3, 2024, following a brief period of illness.

The CBL described the death of its former Deputy Governor as a blow to CBL and Liberia’s banking sector, where he served in various capacities for more than 15 (fifteen years).
