Breaking News: Niger, Mali and Burkina Faso have announced they are leaving the Economic Community of West African States (Ecowas).
The junta-led countries had already been suspended from the bloc, which has been urging them to return to democratic rule.

The 3 junta-led Nations issued a joint press statement on sunday, announcing their decision, while also accusing ECOWAS of kowtowing to “foreign powers”, and said their withdrawal from the union was effective immediately.
Col. Amadou Abdramane, spokesman for Niger’s junta read the statement on Sunday, January 28, 2024, via a national television in the Nation's capital.
