1. $30 million loan scheme launched in electoral district #5 in B**g County
A $30 million dollars loan scheme has been launched as part of his legislative promises in electoral district #5.
The funds are intended to empower women to make businesses with five percent interest rate, electoral district #5 representative Eugene Kollie told the gathering.
To roll out the process, the district #5 lawmaker initially launched the loan program with a five million Liberian dollars.
He clarified that the money will be distributed by clan, adding that the money will be given void of political connections.
Speaking with some of the beneficiaries, they praised Representative Eugene Kollie for launching such a loan scheme that will benefit their lives.
They however want their colleagues manage the funds as intended.
The launching program was done over the weekend in Suakoko.

2. EPA acting Executive Director wants corrupt tackle
The Environment Protection Agency acting Executive Director General Dr. Emmanuel Urey- Yarkpawolo has admonished Liberians to muster the courage and fight against corruption to witness societal growth.
According to him, corruption has since affected the country’s progress thus calling for its tackling.
He emphasized that corruption continues to destroy the country’s image.
The Environmental Protection Agency Acting Director General further challenged Liberians to demonstrate integrity to fight the menace in the society.
According to corruption index report, Liberia is the 149th most corrupt nation in the world.
Dr. Emmanuel Urey-Yarkpawolo was speaking recently when the Sumo Moye Memorial Technical College conferred Associate of Arts Degrees on 16 students from its two years degree granting institution.

3. Sumo Moye Memorial Technical College to offer BSc soon
The Sumo Moye Memorial Technical College is expected to upgrade its Associate Degree program to a full flesh Bachelors’ program, its Acting President, Mr. Thomas Cisco has told journalists.
He clarified that proposal is subject to approval by the National Commission on Higher Education- the statutory for evaluating and approving tertiary institutions in Liberia.
Mr. Cisco explained that the Commission has accessed the facility, but are pending approval.
The Sumo Moye Memorial Technical College acting President stated that the institution has qualified staff to roll the BSc programs.
At the same time, the SMMTC acting president has announced that the institution is at the concluding stage of a partnership agreement with the Amah Touray Educational and Humanitarian Foundation from Australia for a technical cooperation partnership.
Upon completion, he says, the partnership will also focus on students and teachers exchange program, transfer of technology, transfer of learning materials, among others.

4. Financial Intelligence Agency Officer In Charge, Mohammed Nasser vows to serve with integrity
Mr. Mohammed Nasser has vowed to serve with utmost integrity and commitment at the Financial Intelligence Agency of Liberia days after his appointment as Officer-In-Charge.
President Joseph Nyumah Boakai appointed Mr. Mohammed Nasser as OIC at the FIA days after the suspension of its Director General, Mr. Stanley Ford for reported financial malpractices.
The president took the decision on Friday, April 5 while urging him like other nominees, to serve with integrity, commitment and diligence to country.
A day after his appointment, Mr. Mohammed Nasser, a two times senatorial candidate in B**g County, took to his official page to express sincere gratitude to President Boakai for the preferment while promising to serve with the highest trust within his administration.
Mr. Nasser, a former president for the Federation of Liberian Youths- the Umbrella Organization for all youth institutions in Liberia, is responsible for the performance of the functions and powers, and for the day-to-day administration of the FIA.
He shall also be answerable to the President of Liberia for the proper administration and overall performance of the FIA.
The FIA is an independent and autonomous agency established to serve as the central, national agency of Liberia responsible for the receipt, analysis, and conduct preliminary investigations of suspicious transactions, currency transactions, other information relevant to money laundering, associated predicate offenses, terrorist financing, financing proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and proceeds of crime and other transactions determined by the FIA.
