CDC’s Executive Thomas Fallah fearlessly blasts some executives and members of the party for calling for his suspension after he attended the induction program of Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin

CDC’s National Vice Chair for Operations, Thomas Fallah has termed as a disservice and bravely blasted some executives and members of the party for recently calling for his suspension for attending the induction program of Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin.

Recently, some executives and members of the Coalition for Democratic Change were consistently demanding the immediate suspension of Representative Fallah of Lofa County Electoral District #1 for attending the induction ceremony of Internal Affairs Minister, Francis Nyumalin.

They claimed that their VPO attended Minister Nyumalin’s induction program without the consent of the party, on grounds that prior to his appointment, the Minister threatened and masterminded the killing of ‘CDCians’ during the 2023 presidential and legislative elections in Lofa County.

But officially breaking silence on the matter during his appearance at the national headquarters of the party in Congo Town, Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Thomas Fallah expressed disappointment in those individuals who were championing said calls against him.

The Lofa County Electoral District #1 lawmaker maintained that since he formally joined the party over the years, there is no proven record within the CDC to indict him of betraying his political institution.

At the same time, Representative Thomas Fallah has questioned the sincerity of the call for his suspension after Minister Nyumalin was confirmed by the Liberian Senate, where CDC lawmakers formed part of said decision.

2. Appoint a qualified son of B**g County to the Supreme Court Bench as Associate Justice

The Regional coordinator for the Justice and Peace Commission, Mr. George Philip Mulbah wants the appointment of a son of B**g County on the Supreme Court Bench.

According to Mr. Mulbah, the vacant seat should be occupied by a qualified son of the county.

Since 2022, B**g’s citizens have maintained calls for the Resident Circuit Court Judge, Cllr. J. Boimah Kontoe to be named as an Associate Justice, but such call has not yielded any positive result thus far.

Judge Kontoe who has practiced for decades in the country has also served as an Ad Hoc judge on the Supreme Court Bench if there’s a vacancy or absence of an Associate Justice in the country.

George Philip Mulbah wants the caucus make the necessary recommendation to the president for appointment stressing that such nominee will perform to the fullest in representing the country.

At the same time, the regional JPC coordinator wants the pretrial detainees’ cases handled to avoid over-crowdedness of the Gbarnga Prison Compound.

Currently, there are 289 inmates at the Gbarnga Central Prison instead of 130 inmates as was originally intended.

1. B**g residents call for immediate action as marketers and traders reject legal tender

Several residents of B**g County have expressed disappointment in marketers refusing the country’s legal tender ahead of the official deadline.

The Central Bank of Liberia has since set March 31, 2024 as the deadline for what it calls “Liberia Series One and two or old money” which were printed between 2003-2009 and 2016-2017, with the latter carrying denominations of L$500 higher to be in circulation.

But as it stands, many business people across the country have started refusing the money, thus causing serious embarrassment for the ordinary citizens.

There has also been report of fighting in some parts of the country while others are denied from transacting with the old money.

Speaking on Premium FM over the weekend, the B**g County residents described the actions of marketers and traders as unprecedented.

They however want President Joseph Nyumah Boakai take immediate actions to save his government.

On May 6, 2021, the 54th National Legislature through a Joint Resolution agreed to print 48 Billion dollars and infuse it into the country’s economy in stages.

The National Legislature also confirmed the Central of Liberia’s monetary policy of getting rid of the old monies in circulation; thus setting March 31, 2024 as the target.

An educator here in Gbarnga, B**g County wants education fully prioritized.

According to him, the country has been pretending about education due to the lack of support.

Mulbah explained that teachers’ motivation have been lacking thus leading to dissatisfaction in the classrooms as slow or weak monitoring system has been the order of the day.

This action, Philip says, is seriously undermining the educational system.

The two times B**g County Best Teacher award winner from the Ministry of Education further called on parents to improve their efforts by giving their fullest support to their children’s education and regularize visitations on their campuses.

At the same time, Mr. Philip Lepolu Mulbah has called on the current government to uphold support for the 2011 education reform act of Liberia by dedicating at least 20% support from the national budget.

He also thinks the full implementation of the education reform act will curtail the "too many political influences".

President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has since promised to prioritize education under his “ARREST” mantra.

President Boakai Mandates GAC To Audit CBL, EPS And NSA

Executive Mansion, Monrovia: The President of the Republic, H.E Joseph Nyuma Boakai has directed the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct a comprehensive audit of three key government institutions, including the Central Bank of Liberia, the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Executive Protection Service (EPS).

President Boakai, in a communication to the Auditor General of the GAC, requests that the audit covers the period between 2018 and 2023, and that it the findings be reported in three months.

The audit period spans the six-year stewardship of the erstwhile government, which President Boakai promised to audit as President.

The audit of the three institutions marks the beginning of a holistic audit of government ministries and agencies in keeping with the President’s commitment to fighting corruption as well as ensuring transparency and accountability in the governance of the country.

President Boakai at different public engagements, most notably, the campaign period, the inaugural address and the annual message committed and recommitted to ensuring that a comprehensive audit of the previous government is done.

During his Annual Message, President Boakai announced that what his predecessor reported on the state of the country’s financial standing at the CBL was far from reality based on documentary records and re-emphasized the need to audit the CBL and other agencies.

"The net international reserves position reported at the end of December 2023 was US$220 million. The report of US $40 million as the GoL’s consolidated account balance as at January 19, 2024 is not supported by the fact. The balance reported by the CBL as of the same date was US$20.5 million, highly encumbered, NOT US$40 million," President Boakai announced during the Annual Message.

He furthered that "to this end, we re-emphasize our earlier commitment to audit and ensure that regular audits will be a culture across all branches of government, not only the Executive."

It will also be the first time in years that the EPS and NSA, two security entities that receive budgetary allocations, are being audited.
