Ahead of Local Leaders Nomination in Gbarpolu by President Boakai: Let's Discuss π
In my humble opinion, I believe that for effective governance and progress in Gbarpolu, it is crucial to look beyond harmonized politicians when recommending individuals for local leadership positions.
We need unique perspectives, genuine dedication, and a strong commitment to the well-being of our county.
By steering away from harmonized politicians and focusing on candidates with a history of genuine dedication to public service, we can cultivate a leadership landscape that is grounded in accountability, transparency, and the genuine pursuit of progress for all residents in Gbarpolu.
Let us advocate for a system that values competence and ethical conduct above all else, ensuring that our leaders are truly representative of the values and aspirations of our county.
Through this approach, we can build a stronger foundation for inclusive governance and sustainable development.
I encourage open and respectful dialogue on this important matter, as we strive to create a brighter future for Gbarpolu based on merit, integrity, and a shared commitment to excellence in leadership.
Wishing everyone a harmonious and reflective weekend.
On the other hand, let me congratulate the Youth of the Gungbaya Chiefdom in Bopolu District for electing Moses Darju as the Chiefdom Youth President.
Meanwhile, let's continue to engage in constructive conversations that propel us towards a more prosperous and united community. πΊ
The Real Deal remains formidable ... no need for rebranding whatsoever because the nucleus of the Association of Liberia Community Radio (ALICOR) is already solid and attracting more attention from all over the world. Subsequently, We are for sustained advancement with Team Hector Mulbah!
Partner for good. This is indeed welcoming from the Benda Foundation. Thanks to Prince D. Vongbor for the connection.
Today's Tuesday edition of The Daily Talk: Sports highlights, national & local news, with a focus on combating drugs/substance abuse and the BAO CHICO Mineral Development Agreement.
π’π Voice of Gbarpolu Radio / TV Awareness on Gbarpolu First Big Mining Company
π΄ URGENT: Attention all Gbarpolu residents!π΄π΄
We need to talk about the Mineral Development Agreement (MDA) signed in March 2022 between the Government of Liberia and the iron ore Mining Company, BAO CHICO Mining Company, operating in our beloved Gbarpolu County.
While the company prioritizes its security, as stated in Section 9.2 of the MDA, it has regrettably neglected crucial provisions within the agreement. This negligence directly impacts Gbarpolu and its people, denying them the just benefits they deserve.
π΄ Key Concerns:
Two years now, the company has failed to deliver on the following key vital provisions outlined in the MDA:
1οΈβ£ Section 8.2(a) - that the company pay US$500,000.00 yearly as social contributions,
2οΈβ£ Section 9.1 - that the company constructs, maintains, and supports the use of modern health safety,
3οΈβ£ Section 9.3(a) ~ that before the start of commercial production, the company provides accommodation to contractors and its employees including access to the bathroom, shower, toilet, clean and safe drinking water,
4οΈβ£ Section 9.3(b) ~ that the company ensure access to housing for employees and contractors (and their resident wives and dependent children),
5οΈβ£ Section 9.5 ~ that BAO CHICO ensures uninterrupted clean and safe drinking water supply through the construction of hand pumps at its workplaces,
6οΈβ£ Section 10. (a) ~ that upon the beginning of construction of the Mining Plant and infrastructure, the company shall construct, operate, and maintain health facilities to ensure the accessibility of 24-hour medical care. All health facilities shall be staffed with qualified medical personnel and shall be properly equipped and supplied for the level of services required by international medical standards,
7οΈβ£ Section 11.2(a) ~ that the company operates Vocational Training facilities and also provides job training,
8οΈβ£ Section 11.3 ~ that commencing on the start of the commercial production until the project end, contribute US$80,000.00 annual Education Fund to Gbarpolu,
9οΈβ£ Section 16.8(a) ~ that the company pays US$50,000.00 as an annual surface rental fee for all land within the production area from the effective date.
π΄ Our Call to Action:
It's time for us to stand together and demand accountability from BAO CHICO Mining Company. Our County deserves fair treatment and the benefits stipulated in the agreement must be upheld.
π΄ How You Can Help:
β Spread awareness about this issue within our community.
β Join us in advocating for the fulfillment of the MDA provisions by the mining company.
β Stay informed and engaged as we work towards securing the rights and benefits of Gbarpolu and its people.
π΄ Together, We Can Make a Difference!
Let's unite our voices and ensure that justice is served for Gbarpolu County. Our community's well-being and prosperity are non-negotiable.
