Breaking News!?

Referees 'asked to pause night matches for Muslim players to break their fast'
Referees in the Premier League and EFL have reportedly been asked to pause evening games during Ramadan to allow players to break their fast.

The holy period of Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar, is set to start on Wednesday and will end on the evening of Friday April 21.
A number of Muslim players will be abstaining from eating and drinking during daylight hours and match officials in England's top four divisions have been asked to halt night matches so these players can take on liquids, energy gels and supplements, according to Sky Sports.

They have been encouraged to wait for a natural stoppage in play, such as a goal kick or a throw-in, before pausing the game.
Teams have also been told to try and agree a rough time with the referee ahead of kick-off for the pause to take place.
Matches in the Premier League have been paused in the past for players to break their fast, with Burnley's league game against Southampton last season halted in the 41st minute to allow Mohamed Elyounoussi and Yan Valery to refuel.

The Premier League's stance has previously been to allow games to be stopped if a team puts in a request beforehand, but this time they have sent a clear message to referees ahead of Ramadan getting underway.

England's top-flight contains several high-profile Muslim players including Liverpool's Mohamed Salah and Manchester City's Riyad Mahrez who are expected to fast over the next month.

Those two men are due to face each other in the first Premier League game after the international break when the Reds travel to the Etihad, although a pause will not be necessary for that match as it is a 12:30pm kick-off.

Chelsea defenders Kalidou Koulibaly and Wesley Fofana are also set to observe Ramadan, and the latter was given time to break his fast during a match between Leicester and Crystal Palace two years

Pep Guardiolaโ€™s side have huge games coming up against Liverpool and Bayern Muncih the Premier League and Champions League respectively.

Erling Haaland will miss the start of Norwayโ€™s 2024 European Championship qualification campaign after picking up an injury in his clubโ€™s 6-0 FA Cup thrashing of Burnley on Saturday. The Manchester City striker had been called up for matches to away to Spain (25 March) and Georgia (28 March) but the Norwegian Football Association have confirmed that he has returned to Manchester for treatment.

Haaland has incredibly scored 42 goals in 37 appearances for City, which includes no fewer than eight in his last two matches. Last week, he found the net on five occasions against RB Leipzig in the Champions League round of 16 and followed that up with a treble against the Clarets at the weekend. Those numbers are made even more impressive by the fact that he was taken off just after the hour-mark in both games.

"History Has Never Been Kind to Senators Seeking Re-election in the Country,
Senate Pro-tempore Chie Stresses

Ahead of the October 2023 polls, the President Pro-tempore of the Liberian Senate Albert Chie has stressed that history has never been kind to Senators seeking re-election in the country.

15 Senators will be re-election this year and their Legislative engagements with residents of their respective Counties may offer them the opportunity to go back to the House of Senate.

Delivering his message at the opening ceremony of the 6th and final session of the 54th Legislature in Monrovia, Senator Chie said most hardly get reelected despite years of hard work and constant visits to constituencies.

The Grand Kru County Senator further expressed optimism that this class of Senators will be an exception and the return rate will be high.

He also urged all of his legislative colleagues to work towards the goal of ensuring that all seeking re-election in the October 10, 2023 elections, be retained by their constituents.

According to him, multi-party democratic elections do not always produce the best elective public servants, adding that there are many reasons for this.

Pro-tempore Chie averred that multi-party democracy which ensures one man, one vote, is the surest way, laid down in the constitution for the will of the people to be met and satisfied and their own voices to be heard.

Meanwhile, the Grand Kru County Senator has committed the Liberian Senate to ensuring free, fair, credible and violence-free elections through their actions, statements and oversight responsibilities.

The people you are hanging out with, are not your friends.

I want you to ask yourself this question!
Are they raising you up?
Or pushing you down?
Are they helping you grow?
Or holding you back?
You have something special inside of you, I can see it. But, I feel that the people you are hanging around, they have their own agendas.

And I had people like that in my life before. People who wanted to get close to me, used me to get what they wanted and then once they got it they left.

So you can't call everybody your friend. The word 'FRIEND' means to love. These people they don't love you, they don't belongs in your squab.

So, a true friends isn't somebody who makes your problems disappear, but they are the ones won't disappear, when you face problems.

Look, you see fake friends they are like shadows, they are around during the brightness times, but they disappear during the darkness times.

So, am going to tell you this, it's better to walk along at night, then with a fake friend in the light.

It's better for enemy to attack you, then a fake friend hug you. I know sometimes a fun hanging out with them, you laugh, you joke.

It's easy to be friends when things are going on well with you, but what about when things ain't going well?

I don't want to preach at this moment, but your life depends on two things:

The people you hang around with and the books you read.

The Energy you hang around, it what matter'. You can't hang around energy vampires. They say people coming into your life for a reason, season and life time.

So, don't believe in so called fake friendship!!

Grand Kru District 2 Citizens Heap Praises On Rep.Koffa - Say The Lawmaker 95% Campaign Promises

By: Staff Writer

District #2, Jan 9,2023 _With barely nine months left for the conduct of Liberia's General and Presidential elections, citizens of Grand Kru county, District #2 have praised Representative Fonati Koffa for what they say is his strides to have completed up to ninety-five percent (95%) all projects earmarked during his campaign in 2017.

Cllr. Fonati Koffa is the incumbent Representative of electoral District #2 and Deputy Speaker of the Honorable House of Representatives (HoR) of the Republic of Liberia.

Rep. Koffa was elected on the ticket of then and still opposition Liberty Party in 2017 and resumed office in 2018 defeating then Representative Numene Bartekwa.

The Grand Kru county Representative who is seeking second term is this time poised to contest on the ticket of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), according to our investigation.

Our independent and verified investigation has it that the Grand Kru District #2 Representative and Deputy Speak of the House of Representatives still enjoys the confidence of his people as scores of citizens from Buah and Forpoh statutory districts speaking through their Spokesman lauded Rep. Koffa for his efforts in improving their district over the five years of his first term rule and pledged their unflinching support to his reelection bid.

Dennis George, on behalf of the citizens noted disclosed that the Lawmaker has completed up to 95% of promises he made to the district back in 2017 and noted that in order to have all projects earmarked completed and new ones initiated, it is only fair for citizens of the area to rally support for the reelection of Koffa.

George, on behalf of his kinsmen indicated that politicians in Liberia mostly make mouthwatering campaign promises to convince electorates to give them power and fail to live up to their promises when given the opportunities to serve their people, adding that in their case, the leader has been living up to his promises since his election nearly six years ago.

Press Union of Liberia blasts Team Kanubah; says the teamโ€™s recent statement calling on the public not to do business with the PUL exposed its ignorance

In a press release issued Wednesday, the PUL expressed dismay over Team Kanubahโ€™s call to local and international organizations to avoid working with the institution.

The team is headed by defeated presidential candidate in the just ended PULโ€™s elections, Julius Kanubah.

However, the Union believes that such a statement has exposed the ignorance of the Team and its attempt to undermine the credibility of the PUL that Team Kanubah wants to lead.

The Union clarified that the Ninth Judicial Circuit in B**g County only placed a stay order on the induction of the new leadership elect or officers elect pending the court action on the declaratory judgment.

The release added that the declaratory judgment was filed by the Julius Kanubah Team and not the operation of the Press Union of Liberia.

The statement stressed that the leadership of the Press Union headed by its President Charles Coffey remains in charge of the Union until the inauguration of the new leadership.

According to the release, the Kanubah Team has used the entire PUL election campaign period and this post-election period to propagate falsehood, misinformation, disinformation and lies.

The PUL Secretary General Musa Kenneh has been speaking in a Bana FM interview on Thursday.

Commenting further, Musa Kenneh questioned the belief of Team Kanubah that the current leadership is shut down.

Kenneh told Bana FM that considering the many challenges journalists face with state security coupled with political intimidation, who will intervene on behalf of those journalists if Team Kinubah claims the leadership is shut down
